Manage Messages in
NextGen® PxP Portal
Open
NextGen® PxP Portal
, and then from the dashboard or the left pane, select
Messages
.
The
Messages
page opens displaying the
Inbox
section.
Note:
Messages sent by the practice with high priority appear with a high priority indicator.
To view the contents of a message, select the message.
You can view your sent messages on the
Sent
tab.
To reply to a message, select
Reply
, compose your reply, and then select
Send
.
Note:
If
Reply
is not available in a message, you can compose a new message by selecting
Ask a Question
.
To archive a message, open the message, and then select
Archive
.
Note:
You cannot delete a message in
NextGen® PxP Portal
. You can view your archived messages on the
Archived
tab.
To unarchive a message, open the archived message, and then select
Unarchive
.

Delete NextGen® PxP Portal Messages and Requests
Open Inbox. Select a message or request and select Remove to delete. A confirmation window opens. Select Yes to delete the item. The item is sent to the corresponding Archived folder (Inbox, Appointments, etc.). Note: You cannot delete items in an Archived folder. Manage Your Responses You can use any of the different reply functions on messages that patients send through NextGen® PxP Portal. Manage Messages from Excluded Patients If a patient is included in your exclusion list in System Administrator, you cannot read or view any messages from that patient. Manually Refresh the Portal Inbox You can manually update (refresh) your mailbox to view the latest NextGen® PxP Portal messages. Manage Scheduled Messages
On the NextGen® Enterprise PM main toolbar, select the Mailbox button. From the list in the upper-right corner of the window, select Patient Portal. Important: The Patient Portal option does not appear in the list if your NextGen® PxP Portal license is not available or has expired. A list of patient portal folders appears in the left pane. A list of messages appears in the right pane. Select the New Message button.. The Patient Portal Message window opens. Under the Communications category, select the Scheduled folder. Optional: To update a scheduled message: Right-click the message, and then select Open. On the Patient Portal Message window, make any necessary changes. Save and close the window. Optional: To delete a scheduled message: Right-click the message, and then select Delete. When prompted, select Yes. Manage Messages from Excluded Patients
Messages or requests from the excluded patients appear as restricted. You can forward the restricted messages to the users who have permissions to view the messages of such patients. For more information about including and excluding patients at the user level, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest version of System Administrator Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. From the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select the Patient Portal tab. The Communications, Prescriptions, Appointments, and Online Forms folders appear in the left pane. The messages appear in the right pane. Select the restricted message.A message explains that you do not have access. Select OK.The Forward Item window opens. Select the required user or user group. If you cannot find a user or group, enter a search string in the field provided, and then select Search. View Portal Messages
Before you begin For NextGen® Enterprise messages to reach NextGen® PxP Portal, you must ensure the following in Site Generator: Patient Messaging online solution is active Provider's are configured in Administrator Setup/Access Location is configured in Interface Setup For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Site Generator User Guide for NextGen® PxP Portal. The last three months messages are displayed by default. On the main toolbar, select the Inbox button. The Workflow window opens. Select the Patient Portal tab. The Communications, Prescriptions, Appointments, and Online Forms folders appear in the left pane. The messages appear in the right pane. Optional: To view all the communication sent and received for the selected patient, select Patient-Specific View.
