Document a DME Supply Item
Select the Types field, and then select the supply category. DME Item Types picklist The grid displays all items of that type and their supply CPT codes. Note: All Types and supply CPT codes tied to Types are configured in the Billing Configuration template. Select the supply item from the grid. The item description, code, and price appear in a row of fields to the right of the grid. Item details added to secondary grid Indicate a Qty. This is required. Select the R, L, or B option for right side, left side, or both. This drives RT, LT, or both modifiers that attach to the CPT code. Document Orthosis Management
Under Orthosis Management, use the checkboxes and fields to capture the Objective, Assessment, and Plan for the orthosis. Orthosis Management section If billing for the application of an upper extremity cast, select Application of Cast UE (29085), and then enter details in the Details field as needed. Application of Cast UE (29085) fields When documentation is completed, select the Sign off checkbox. The additional fields automatically display your username, date, and time of signoff. Sign off fields To generate the document for the patient to sign stating they received the DME item, select DME Signoff. Select Save & Close to save your changes and close the template. DME Visit Workflow
In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, create an encounter that is attached to the case. Open Homepage. Select either a visit type for a single visit or the non-billable DME Only visit type. Navigate to the NTS PT Orthosis template and complete documentation. For billable visit types, open the Fee Sheet template to finalize the visit, submit charges, and generate necessary documents for the encounter. Parent topic: DME Only Visits

DME Only Visits
If a patient comes into the clinic only to purchase durable medical equipment, you can document and charge for those supplies on a non-billable DME Only visit. Use the Document Panel to Complete a Visit
Before you begin Ensure that you have selected the Specialty as Care Management and Visit Type as Case & Consent. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Documentation template, expand the Document panel. Document Add or update the diagnosis code as needed. Choose the appropriate type of visit for the encounter. Select the Add button. Document Referrals for Durable Medical Equipment
You can document a referral to Durable Medical Equipment (DME) for a patient in the Referrals Order template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open a patient's record, and then open an encounter. Open the Intake template, select the Family Practice specialty and Office Visit visit type, and then select My Plan.The My Plan window opens. Select the Referrals tab. The Referrals Order template opens. You can select the information icon to learn more about the Referrals Order template. On the Referrals tab, select the insurance provider. Enter the insurance policy number, and then select the referral type. In the To section, select DME. In Specialty/Therapy/DME, select a service item from the list. Options to Document Referrals Window To document related details, select the Additional Information link. Select No or Yes to indicate if authorization is required.
