Create an encounter in NextGen® Enterprise EHR that is attached to the case. Open Homepage, and then select the DME Only visit type. DME Only visit type selected Select the DME Only tab. Document Orthosis and DME Management

Use the Orthosis/DME template to dispense and bill durable medical equipment (DME), document orthosis and orthotic planning, and track billable time for the fitting of and training on orthotics, prosthetics, and braces, and for cast application. Note: All DME items that can be listed in the orthosis grid are set up in the Billing Configuration system template. Select the Types field. The DME Item Types picklist opens and displays a list of DME types. DME Item Types picklist Select the kind of DME items you want to view. Items related to the selected DME type appear in the grid. Select an item from the grid. The details relevant to selected item appear in the corresponding fields to the right of the grid. Indicate a Quantity and if the item is specific to R, L, or B. If one of the options is selected, you will see RT/LT modifiers attached to the CPT code on the Fee Sheet. DME Supplies Panel

Use the DME Supplies grid to configure items that appear in grids on the treatment Orthosis/DME template and on AUD HD Fitting/Repair template. Those grids show durable medical equipment that can be dispensed to the patient. Initially, the DME Supplies grid is blank until items are added to the SIM library during implementation. Then, the grid pulls directly from the values built in the SIM library – including the name of the supply. Each code in the SIM library can be entered only once. Therefore, an item cannot exist under multiple types. DME Supplies panel with items from SIM library After an item with a new DME type name is entered into the grid, the type name appears in the DME Types picklist. Add a New DME Item

Do one of the following to add a DME type: To enter a new DME type, select the field below the Type column, and then type the name. To select a DME Types from a picklist, double-click in the field, and then select a type name. DME Types picklist opened from DME Supplies panel Select the field below the Item column. A picklist opens with any items listed in the SIM library. Select an item, and then select OK. The field displays the item, and the price and SIM code listed for the item in the SIM library appear in the Price and Code fields. Select Add. Note: When you update prices for supplies, updating them in the SIM library also updates the supplies in the NextGen® Therapy Suite templates. The DME Supplies grid displays the new row. As needed, open the Payer Specific Billing panel to assign replacement codes and modifiers and to prevent billing on any of the DME codes (see Payer Specific Billing Panel). Order Internal Equipment in the Internal DME Template

You can order durable medical equipment (DME) your practice can dispense. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Internal DME. The Internal DME template opens. To add diagnoses and procedures for the order, select Dx & Px. Note: Selecting procedures is optional; however, you must select at least one diagnosis to order equipment. Select an item from the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid. The following fields are automatically filled: Item Charge Deposit Body Region Note: You can select any off-the-shelf (O), custom (C), or cash (CA) item. You can add, update, and delete items in the Orthotics and Prosthetics grid. Optional: Modify the charge. Note: By default, Insurance displays the payer's name from the encounter-level insurance, and Date displays the encounter date. Enter the duration, brace adjustment values, and size of the equipment.
