If a patient comes into the clinic only to purchase durable medical equipment, you can document and charge for those supplies on a non-billable DME Only visit. Select a Visit Type for the Patient Encounter

The visit type you select determines the workflow for the patient encounter. Note: In the Billing Configuration system template, your administrator configures which visit types you can choose from. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Configuration Guide for NextGen® Therapy Suite. Open a patient record, and then in Encounter History, expand a case and select an encounter. Open the NTS Homepage template associated with the encounter. Visit Type

Select a visit type: NP (New Patient), Consult, or Est (Established). This is a required field. On the Billable Visit template, the Visit Type field is a required field. If the patient is not a new patient, the system suggests a Visit Type based on the last billed office visit date. Note: If the practice has configured the application to allow users to override the Visit Type, users can select a Visit Type other than the suggested ones. If this feature is disabled, you are limited to one of the suggested visit types. Access the Home Template

You can open the Home template to begin workflows on the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite. If you set up the Home template as the default template in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences, it will automatically open as the first template for new workflow appointments. You can also manually open this template from the Patient History bar. Open the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application. Select the desired patient record. To open Home template from Inbox, do the following: Click the Inbox Task icon icon. The Workflow window opens. Workflow window Double-click the desired appointment in the appointment grid. Fee Sheet

After you have completed all documentation for an encounter, select the Fee Sheet tab in the workflow bar, or the Fee Sheet button below the panels on the Single Visit template, to open the Fee Sheet template. Fee Sheet on the navigation bar When you open the Fee Sheet, the system uses the documentation on that encounter to determine which CPT codes and the total number of units can be billed. It takes into consideration any payer-specific billing rules configured in the Billing Configuration system template and adjusts billing as needed, based on the payer attached to the case.
