Create On-demand Statements

Before you begin Before generating a statement for a patient encounter, you must add charges to the encounter and then bill it. If a patient has insurance, you must post and process the insurance payments. When all insurance is processed, any remaining balance becomes the patient's responsibility. If you receive payments or new charges, or if insurance is added, you can generate a new statement to reflect the changes. If a patient has insurance, you must post and process the insurance payments. When all insurance is processed, any remaining balance becomes the patient's responsibility. Payments from Patients

Patients can make the following payments directly. Online bill payment after logging on to NextGen® PxP Portal. Online payment without logging on to NextGen® PxP Portal through Pay Now. Pre-check payments. The practice portal staff can make the following payments on behalf of the patient. One time payments from Practice Portal. Budget payments from Practice Portal. CAUTION: To ensure that the payments from patients reach NextGen® Enterprise PM, you must configure the transaction code in Practice Preferences. For more information on configuring Transaction Codes, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Configuration Guide for NextGen® PxP Portal. A payment made through NextGen® PxP Portal is electronically transmitted to NextGen® Enterprise PM. When the payment is received in NextGen® Enterprise PM, a payment batch is created and the payment from NextGen® PxP Portal is added to it. The payment batch is named as PORTAL_PAYMENTS_dateandtimestamp. For example, if

Generating Statements

After you create charges and bill encounters, you can generate billing statements in NextGen® Enterprise PM as needed (on demand) or in a batch. NextGen® Enterprise PM generates billing statements as PDF statements and temporarily stores them in the shared network path configured in the System Administrator. For patients enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal, the system transfers the statements to their NextGen® PxP Portal accounts. When patients log on to NextGen® PxP Portal, they can view the statements and make payments. Important: You must configure the shared network path in Universal Preferences of System Administrator to have the generated statements appear on the Statements tab of NextGen® PxP Portal. You can create a job to create the archived statement records that are used by the NextGen® PxP Portal. When this job executes, the statement dates on the accounts are updated, but no significant events or archive records are generated in the NextGen® Enterprise PM application. The Statement Run report is created and you can choose to print or export the report by setting the parameters for the NextGen® PxP Portal Statements job. Configure the following fields: Field Description Require Account Minimum Statement Amount Indicates the account minimum statement amount to display on the statements. This field displays one of the following: Patient Balance Only Patient + Insurance Balance Account Minimum Statement Amount Indicates a dollar value to serve as the minimum statement amount.
