Complete the Ophthalmology Provider Workflow

For most office visit encounters in general Ophthalmology, the following is a basic outline of the workflow for the provider portion of the visit. To review historical information of the patient, go to the Home Page – OPH template. Go to the Provider – OPH template to document the provider's portion of the encounter. Note: For certain encounters, there are specific single-page visit templates, such as Postoperative Exam – OPH. Select the Provider Summary link to review patient information for today's encounter. Select the Eye Summary link to view current and historical patient findings in a grid. Expand the General panel to review general patient information, the Health Monitor, and Internal Physician Notes. Expand the Orders panel to review, update, and add orders. Expand the Medications panel to review or update medications and perform medication reconciliation, if appropriate. Expand the Reason for Visit panel to review the technician conversation, makes any updates, and sign-off on

Provider Summary for Ophthalmic Providers

The Provider Summary link appears on the Provider tab and opens the Provider Summary - OPH template. Documenting an Impression and Plan

Providers can document their assessments, impressions, plans, return to clinic orders, and enter internal physician notes on the Assessment/Plan tab. Enter Assessments for Today's Visit Ophthalmic providers can enter the assessment, impression, and plan on the Assessment Plan - OPH template. Eye Summary Template

Provider Medication Review and Update

Providers can review and update the patient's list of medications on the Medications panel. If the patient is not currently taking any medications, select the No medications this encounter check box. To filter the medications displayed in the Medications grid, select one of the following options. All - displays all active medications for the patient Ocular - displays only active ocular medications Systemic - displays only active systemic medications Select the Include inactive check box to display both active and inactive medications for the patient. Click the Add/Update button to add or update medication information. Click the Reconcile button to launch the Medication Review template to perform a review or reconciliation of the patient's medications. To indicate patient status, such as when performing a medication review or reconciliation, select the appropriate check boxes. Document and Sign-off HPI as an Ophthalmic Provider

Ophthalmic providers document HPI information on the Generic HPI - OPH template in the Provider HPI Details section. When you open the Generic HPI - OPH template you can document additional reasons for visit. All chief complaints selected as reasons for visit, except retina, are documented on the Generic HPI - OPH template. If previously selected, the chief complaint retina appears in the Chief complaint details grid, but you can only update the HPI information on the Retina History of Present Illness - OPH template. Note: The Chief complaint details grid displays only the technician’s documentation. The final HPI grid shows the provider’s updates and notes. On the Reason for Visit panel, do one of the following to open the Generic HPI - OPH template. Select any chief complaint, except retina, in the Reason for Visit/History of Present Illness grid. Select any chief complaint, except retina, from the left pane. The HPI Generic OPH template opens, displaying the chief complaints and HPI
