Access the Eye Configuration Practice Template

From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. On the Select Template window, select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select All to see a complete list of practice templates. To access the Eye Configuration template, do one of the following: Double-click Eye Configuration. Select Eye Configuration and then click OK. The Eye Configuration practice template opens. Document Patient Consent for Receiving Contact Lens Prescription

Before you begin To document patient consent, you must enable the Eyeglasses and/or Contact Lens Consent section on the Eye Configuration practice template. You can document the patient's consent to receive a paper or digital copy of their contact lens prescription. Then, you can generate a consent document to obtain the patient's signature. On the Contact Lens Evaluation - OPH template, in the Contact Lens/Eyeglasses Consent section, expand the Contact Lens Consent/Prescription panel. For more information on enabling the Contact Lens/Eyeglasses Consent section, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Setup Guide for NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. If the section is already enabled, go to Step 2. To indicate the patient's preference to receive their contact lens prescription, select Paper Copy or Digital Copy. Eye Configuration Practice Template

The Eye Configuration practice template contains configurations specific to the NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. The Eye Configuration practice template enables you to do the following: View the install date and current version of the NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. Configure ophthalmic providers for a sub-specialty, enable the copy last exam forward feature, and set a default specialty for the provider. Enable auto-generation of clinical documents when billing codes are submitted to the Superbill. Record the Patient's Refusal to Sign for Contact Lens Prescription

If the patient refuses to sign for the printed copy of their contact lens prescription, you can record that in the Contact Lens Consent section. On the Contact Lens Evaluation - OPH template, in the Contact Lens Consent section, expand the Contact Lens Consent/Prescription panel. For more information on enabling the Contact Lens Consent section, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Setup Guide for NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. If the section is already enabled, go to Step 2. Select Paper Copy. If you select Paper Copy, the Patient refuses to sign that they have received the contact lens prescription check box appears next to the Print RX 1 and Print RX 2 buttons. Contact Lens Evaluation

Depending on the practice, workflow on the Contact Lens Evaluation - OPH template may begin after intake or after a technician performs preliminary exams. Any information previously documented during the encounter appears in the corresponding data fields on the Contact Lens Evaluation - OPH template. This information can be reviewed and updated as appropriate.
