Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module Using SIM Codes

Before you begin You must have a Service Item Maintenance (SIM) code to complete this task. For more information on creating or editing SIM codes, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the File Maintenance Libraries User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using SIM codes. To use a Service Item Code for the *Billing/Test Code in the Oph diagnostic tests data set, you have to use a miscellaneous diagnostic test code for the NextGen Compendium Test Key. The following steps outline the process to configure SIM codes successfully. Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module

The following steps outline the steps you need to submit ophthalmic tests to the Order module using CPT4 codes. For more information about the Orders module, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Note: The Oph diagnostic tests data set manages records that control how ophthalmic diagnostic tests are processed. These fields provide the information that you need to configure the test correctly. oph diagnostic tests setup template The fields with an * represent the fields in the oph diagnostic tests data set record. Add a test to the Order Tests master file in File Maintenance using the following information: System- enter the *Vendor Name from the corresponding data set record. Key- enter *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record. Description- enter the *Test type from the corresponding data set record. Order Type- enter Radiology. Code System- enter R. Use Diagnostic Tests Different from those Packaged with the System

Hide the original diagnostic test record on the test ordering template: Highlight the row in the grid with the test to be updated. Click Update. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and displays details for the test in the edit fields above the grid. Select the Hide on test ordering popup check box. Click Update. The grid refreshes to display the row for the test with the updated details. The edit fields are cleared. Add the new diagnostic test record with modifications: Click Add. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and displays details for the test in the edit fields above the grid. Enter a value for Billing/Test code. This test code must be listed in the NextGen Compendium if this test is to be sent to the Order module. Update an Existing Test in the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Data Set

Click the Data Set field and select Oph diagnostic tests from the DB picklist. The grid refreshes to display existing items in the Oph diagnostic tests data set. Highlight the row in the Data Sets grid to be updated, and click Update. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and details for the highlighted test appear in the edit fields above the grid. You can also select a test directly on the Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template. To make changes to Test type: Click the field, and select from the Procedures search window. The selected procedure fills the Test type field and its code automatically fills the Billing/Test code field. To enter a test that is not found with the Procedures search window, click Cancel to close and type in a test description. Create an Order Test in File Maintenance

You can create an order test for a patient in File Maintenance. Open File Maintenance. Select Master Files > System > EHR. Select Order Tests.The Order Tests List window opens. Select the Menu icon and then select New.The Add Order Test Information window opens. In the Test Details tab (required fields are in red font), enter the following details: In System, select any from the list. For example, in house lab. In Key, enter the order test key. In Description, enter a name for the new order test item. Note: You cannot have a duplicate order test item in the system. Therefor, you must give the new order item a unique description and a unique key. In Order Type, select Lab or Radiology. In Code System, enter the code system to use for this order.
