Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module Using Compendium Codes

You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using Compendium Codes. You have to configure the test in File Maintenance in the following Master Files for NextGen® Enterprise EHR:
  • Order Tests
  • Order Components
  • Order Test NextGen Compendium
The following steps use the OCT Anterior record in the Oph diagnostic tests data set to provide an overview of the configuration process.

  1. Add the test to the Order Tests master file in File Maintenance using the following information:
    • System- enter the Vendor Name from the corresponding data set record, InHouseLab.
    • Key- enter the *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record, 92132.
    • Description- enter the *Test type from the corresponding data set record, OCT Anterior.
    • Order Type- enter Radiology.
    • Code System- enter R.
    • Map the NextGen Compendium Test Key to the Order module code from the corresponding data set record, NG000002.
    • Map the CPT4 Codes to the *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record, 92134.
  2. Add the test in Test Components master file in File Maintenance using the following information:
    • System ID- enter the Vendor Name from the corresponding data set record, InHouseLab.
    • Key- enter the *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record, 92132
    • Code System- enter R.
  3. Search for the NextGen Compendium Test Key, NG000002 in the Order NextGen Test Compendium master file in File Maintenance and update the following information, as needed:
    • NextGen Test Description- enter the *Test type from the corresponding data set record, OCT Anterior.
    • Map the *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record, 92132, in the grid with CPT Code and Description columns.
