Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module Using Compendium Codes

You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using Compendium Codes. You have to configure the test in File Maintenance in the following Master Files for NextGen® Enterprise EHR: Order Tests Order Components Order Test NextGen Compendium The following steps use the OCT Anterior record in the Oph diagnostic tests data set to provide an overview of the configuration process. oph diagnostic tests setup For more information about the orders module and the NextGen Compendium, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Add the test to the Order Tests master file in File Maintenance using the following information: System- enter the Vendor Name from the corresponding data set record, InHouseLab. Key- enter the *Billing/Test code from the corresponding data set record, 92132. Description- enter the *Test type from the corresponding data set record, OCT Anterior. Order Type- enter Radiology. Configure Ophthalmic Tests for the Order Module Using SIM Codes

Before you begin You must have a Service Item Maintenance (SIM) code to complete this task. For more information on creating or editing SIM codes, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the File Maintenance Libraries User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. You can send ophthalmic tests to the orders module using SIM codes. To use a Service Item Code for the *Billing/Test Code in the Oph diagnostic tests data set, you have to use a miscellaneous diagnostic test code for the NextGen Compendium Test Key. The following steps outline the process to configure SIM codes successfully. For more information about the orders module and the NextGen Compendium, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. You have to configure the test in the following areas: File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order Tests File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order Components File Maintenance > Master Files > EHR > Order Test Next

Use Diagnostic Tests Different from those Packaged with the System

Hide the original diagnostic test record on the test ordering template: Highlight the row in the grid with the test to be updated. Click Update. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and displays details for the test in the edit fields above the grid. Select the Hide on test ordering popup check box. Click Update. The grid refreshes to display the row for the test with the updated details. The edit fields are cleared. Add the new diagnostic test record with modifications: Click Add. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tests Setup template opens and displays details for the test in the edit fields above the grid. Enter a value for Billing/Test code. This test code must be listed in the NextGen Compendium if this test is to be sent to the Order module. Update an Existing Test in the Ophthalmology Diagnostic Tests Data Set

Click the Data Set field and select Oph diagnostic tests from the DB picklist. The grid refreshes to display existing items in the Oph diagnostic tests data set. Oph Setup - Oph Dx Tests Setup Fields

Each of the diagnostic tests configured in the Ophthalmology diagnostic tests data set has specific information to be setup. Field Name Description Test type The Test type field is used to display and edit the test description. The selection made from the Procedure opened from the Billing/Test code field appears in this field automatically. Selecting this field opens the Procedures template. The description can be edited as needed. Billing/Test code The Billing/Test code contains the procedure code for the test. Selecting this field opens the Procedures template.
