You can create an order test for a patient in File Maintenance.
- Open File Maintenance.
- Select Master Files > System > EHR.
- Select Order Tests.
The Order Tests List window opens.
- Select the Menu icon and then select New.
The Add Order Test Information window opens.
- In the Test Details tab (required fields are in red font), enter the following details:
- In System, select any from the list. For example, in house lab.
- In Key, enter the order test key.
- In Description, enter a name for the new order test item.
Note: You cannot have a duplicate order test item in the system. Therefor, you must give the new order item a unique description and a unique key.
- In Order Type, select Lab or Radiology.
- In Code System, enter the code system to use for this order.
- To link the NextGen compendium test key to the order test key, do the following:
- Select the icon to the left of the NextGen Compendium Test Key field.
The Map NextGen Compendium Test Key to Order Test window opens.
- In Available, enter the first few letters of the test description.
The left side list pane refreshes to display a list of order tests that start with those letters. The available field refreshes to display the first item in the list.
- Select the right arrow button.
The selected test moves to the Included list on the right.
- Select OK.
- Optional: Enter or select any other details for the new order test, as applicable.
Note: This includes CPT® codes, SIM code, LOINC® code on the Details tab, and specimen handling, and any other options on their respective tabs.
- Select OK, and the select Close.
