If you have the appropriate permission, you can use the Hide Streaming Text option in the Settings view to turn on and off the text box while dictating. When the text box is open while recording, you can view your dictation text with the dictation streaming workflow.
The dictation streaming workflow is as follows:
-
Record Dictation
-
Ready to record the dictation.
-
Listening
-
Listening to your dictation.
-
Processing
-
Correcting the dictated note for grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors.
Note: The transcription system can only process and refine content greater than fifty characters in length.
-
Transcript Complete!
-
Transcription is done, and the dictated note is available.
Google™ speech-to-text (STT) does not record and process the dictated note in the following situations:
- If you select the back button or open other windows while recording the dictation or processing the dictated note.
- If the internet connection is lost.
You can use your device keyboard or the built-in NextGen® Mobile verbal commands to edit the content that appears in the text box.
After you stop recording, you can continue to edit the text, but cannot listen to the recording.
While dictating with the text box open, the Device Edit option is not available. You can send your file to transcription or NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
When you get a connection application message while dictating, you must exit and reopen the dictation screen.
As the Device Edit option is not available, you cannot electronically sign your dictation.
If you are a
NextGen® Mobile plus and streaming user and belong to a group with the permission to turn on the
Copy Data Forward option for the clinic in
NextGen® Mobile Cloud Portal,
Last Text appears on your field-level tags in dictation jobs.
Note: Last Text appears only on jobs sent to NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and not on transcription jobs.
Note: Last Text is not available when no previous encounter data is found.
You can select
Last Text, and then use the encounter up and down

buttons to select one of the previously recorded dictations from your prior encounter with the patient. You can edit the copy forwarded text by selecting the tag and recording or by using the mobile keyboard to add text on your current dictation job.
Note: If NextGen® Mobile fails to connect to the ExpressLink client when you select Last Text, a message appears indicating that the connection is not available.
Note: If the device is offline while searching for the past encounter dictation text, a message appears indicating that copy data forward is not available if the device is offline.
