Complete the Prescription Details

When you prescribe medication for a patient, you can perform the following tasks on the RxDetails view.
  • Calculate the quantity of medication needed based on the start date, stop date, and the Sig. The duration of the medication is calculated automatically.
  • Calculate the stop date based on the quantity, start date, and the Sig.
  1. Open NextGen® Mobile.
  2. Select a medication for the patient.
    The RxDetails view opens.
  3. To change the dosage, do the following:
    1. Select the medication name and dosage.
      The Select Medicine view displays the list of available dosages.
    2. Select the desired dosage.
      The new dosage appears on the RxDetails view.
  4. In Quantity, select the field and enter the amount, or select Calculate.
  5. To specify the number of medication refills, select Refills and select a refill amount from the Select Refills view that opens.
  6. If required, modify the Sig.
  7. To administer the medication, do the following:
    1. To select PRN, select the PRN check box.
      The text as needed is appended to the current Sig.
    2. To select a reason, select Reasons, and select a reason from Select Reason.
  8. Fill the following fields.
    • Start Date- Displays the current date by default. You can select the Start Date field, and select a different start date for the medication.
    • Stop Date - Select the Stop Date field and select a stop date. If you have entered Duration and Start Date, NextGen® Mobile automatically calculates Stop Date.
    • Duration - Enter the number of days that you want to prescribe the medication for. If you have entered Start Date and Stop Date, NextGen® Mobile automatically calculates the Duration.
    • Units - Select the dosage form for the medication.
    In Dosing, you can view the recommended dose per day based on the entered data. The Weight field displays the weight of the patient. The default unit of measurement is Lbs. To view weight in Kgs, you can select the toggle. The Height field displays the height of the patient in inches.
  9. To instruct pharmacy to dispense medication exactly as written in the prescription, select Dispense as Written.
  10. Fill the additional prescription fields.
  11. Select Save.
    If a DUR Alert view appears, select Reason to select a reason to allow the medication, and select Allow.
