Additional Prescription Fields

You can fill the following additional fields to provide more details for prescribing medication.

Field	Description
Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy	Enter non-clinical instructions on dispensing medication to pharmacy. You can enter up to a maximum of 70 characters. Note: If your medication is from a favorite group, the comments you enter for the group in NextGen® Enterprise EHR appears in the Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy field. If needed, you can edit the fields for your patient.
Provider	Displays the current default provider identified for the patient in System Administrator. NextGen® Mobile uses this provider, and not the currently logged on provider, to establish the necessary eprescribing permissions. Note: A provider can prescribe a Controlled Substances (CS) medication only if the provider has necessary ePCS permissions and the provider relationship is set as self in System Administrator. To change the provider, select the field, and select a provider from the displayed list.
Location	Displays the current encounter location. To change the location, select the field, and select a location from the displayed list.
Problem	Select the field to select an active problem that is associated with the patient's chart.
Last Note	Select the field to add a note to the prescription.
Last Audit	Displays the prescribing channel used for routing the previous prescription to pharmacy. The following are the possible values. E - ePrescribed F - Faxed P - Printed
Last Renewed	Displays the last renewal date for the medication.
Times Renewed	Displays the number of times the medication is renewed.
Last Dispensed	Displays the date on which the medication is last dispensed.
Prior Authorization	Select this check box to indicate that prior authorization is granted for this medication. You must enter the authorization ID number and the date on which you received the authorization.
Prescribed Elsewhere	Select this check box to indicate that this prescription is written outside of this practice and is a transcript of that prescription. You must also identify the source of the prescription. This check box is automatically selected if you select Unknown Strength for the dosage of the medication.
Limit Renewals	Select this check box to indicate that the medication has a limit for renewing. If selected, any attempt to renew the medication results in an alert indicating that the medication has limited renewals. You can proceed with the renewal or cancel it. Note: If your medication is from a favorite group and the Limit Renewals check box is selected in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, Limit Renewals is automatically selected in the RxDetails view.
Sample	Select this check box to indicate that a sample medication is dispensed to the patient with the prescription. You must provide the lot number and expiry date for the sample.
Supervising Physician	If the prescribing physician of the medication requires supervision and a default physician is not selected in File Maintenance, this field is made available. The list is filled with rendering physicians who belong to the practice of the prescribing provider and do not need supervision.
