Before you begin
You must ensure the following:
- The ePCS authentication method is set up in universal and user preferences in System Administrator. EPCS Authentication Method for ePrescribing must be set as Symantec.
Note: User preference takes precedence over universal preference.
- The Symantec VIP application is installed on your device.
You can use Symantec VIP token authentication method to perform authentication while prescribing controlled substances (CS) medication.
- In NextGen® Mobile, open the RxVerification view for a CS medication.
- To authenticate your CS prescription, enter your password in the NextGen section.
Note: The username is automatically filled based on the provider setup or logon.
After you enter password, the Verify button is made available.
- Select Verify.
If you enter a wrong authentication password, a message appears stating that the credentials are invalid.
NextGen® Mobile verifies the password, and enables
Verify & Send in the
Symantec VIP Token section and displays a token ID in the
VIP Access view in the
Symantec VIP application.
- In the Symantec VIP Token field, enter the token you receive from the VIP Access view, and select Verify & Send.
On successful authentication, a message appears stating that medication is sent successfully. You can select
OK to close the message.
Note: If there is a connection failure, or if you enter incorrect token or NextGen® Mobile fails to send the medication, a message appears stating that you have to retry sending the medication.
