Document On the Fly Medications

You can document dispensing or administration of on the fly medications that are ordered from Medications module or Office Procedures template.

Before you begin

You must configure the permission to add medications on the fly, for your user group in the Medication & Billing Configuration system template.
  1. On the MICS Med Management template, expand the Medication Management panel.
  2. In the top grid, select the prescribed or ordered medication.
    The details of the medication appear in the Manage Selected Medication section.

  3. If sub-locations are turned on for the practice, select the sub-location the medication is pulled from, and select OK.
  4. To add the diagnosis codes for selected medication, select diagnosis codes in the Diagnosis and Second Dx fields.
  5. Select Dispensed or Administered for non-injectable or injectable medications respectively.
    The corresponding fields are available.
  6. Select the Add Med on the Fly link.
    The MLTS MedConfig Add PU window opens.

  7. Select if the medication is billable or non-billable.
  8. From the Source field, select the source of medication.
    The Med Config: Drug Names picklist opens.
  9. Select a medication from the Drug Name field.
    The MLTS LotTrack Manuf Drug PL picklist opens.
  10. Select the manufacturer in the Manufacturer field.
    The NDC, JCode, and unit type are filled in the corresponding fields.
  11. Enter the lot number and expiration date in the corresponding fields, and then select Add.
    The MLTS MedConfig Add PU window closes and the added medication details appear in the corresponding fields in the Manage Selected Medication section.

  12. For administered medications, enter the sequence, administration type, body part, side, position, and reaction.
  13. Enter the quantity being dispensed or administered in the Amount field.
  14. Enter your comments in the Comments field, and select Submit.
The added on the fly medications are added to the inventory of your practice. You can view the added medications in the Medication Inventory panel on the Inventory Management system template.
