When administered or dispensed to a patient ,billable medications are sent to the Procedure module and NextGen® Enterprise PM . To use these medications, you must build them in your National Drug Code (NDC) and Service Item Master (SIM) Library.
- On the Medication & Billing Configuration system template, expand the Medication Information Configuration panel.
- Select the Billable option below the grid.
The Medication Search window opens.
- Enter search text for the medication in the Drug Name, CPT4, or NDC fields.
Note: When you search by drug name, the list shows medications that start with the characters entered in the Drug Name field. Select Search anywhere in field check box to search with any character in the name entered.
- Select the medication from the results, and select OK.
The Medication Search window closes, and the selected drug description gets filled in the SIM Description and Drug fields. The CPT code, SIM Code and NDC number appear in the read-only J-Code, SIM Code and NDC# fields.
- To change the way the drug name appears for the selection, select the Drug field to edit the entry.
Note: To select a different drug, select the SIM Description field.
- Select from the Manufacturer field.
Note: If the manufacturer you want is not listed, you can add the manfacturer in the Manufacturer grid on the Medication Picklist system template.
- From the Unit Type field, select the unit type.
- For a single dose medication, select the Single Dose checkbox, and enter the quantity per vial in the Units/Vial field.
- Select Add.
Note: When a new medication is added for billing, the New Medication Added to Inventory task is sent to the assigned user or workgroup configured in the MICS Tasking Manager.
