Associate a National Drug Code (NDC) with a SIM Code

You can associate a National Drug Code (NDC) to a Service Item Master (SIM) code from NextGen® Medication Inventory Control. On the Specialty Config Home system template, select Medication & Billing from the left navigation bar. The MICS Medication & Billing system template opens. Expand the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the Add Codes or NDC to Service Item Master link. The MICS Add to Sim Library window opens. MICS Add to SIM Library template Select the search icon next to the Service Item Id field. The Service Item Master Library window opens. In the SIM Code field, enter the value to search for the required SIM code. Select the required SIM code from the grid, and then select OK. The associated values with the selected SIM codes appear in the relevant fields in the MICS Add to Sim Library window. Add a Billable Medication

When administered or dispensed to a patient ,billable medications are sent to the Procedure module and NextGen® Enterprise PM . To use these medications, you must build them in your National Drug Code (NDC) and Service Item Master (SIM) Library. On the Medication & Billing Configuration system template, expand the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the Billable option below the grid. The Medication Search window opens. Enter search text for the medication in the Drug Name, CPT4, or NDC fields. Note: When you search by drug name, the list shows medications that start with the characters entered in the Drug Name field. Select Search anywhere in field check box to search with any character in the name entered. Select the medication from the results, and select OK. The Medication Search window closes, and the selected drug description gets filled in the SIM Description and Drug fields. Add a Revenue Code to a SIM Code

On the Specialty Config Home system template, select Medication & Billing from the left navigation bar. The MICS Medication & Billing system template opens. Expand the Medication Information Configuration panel. Select the Add Codes or NDC to Service Item Master link. The MICS Add to Sim Library window opens. MICS Add to SIM Library template Expand the Additional Settings panel. In the Revenue Code field, select the revenue code. Select RVUs. Select the applicable checkboxes. Use the Medication Information Configuration panel to view and add all billable and non-billable medications that are used throughout the NextGen® Medication Inventory Control. Medications added here are the only ones you can add to inventory or configure settings for. Note: The grid in the Medication Information Configuration panel is for non-immunization medications. Service Items Library

The Service Items library is the center of the billing functions. Within the Service Items library you can set up CPT4 codes for each practice, along with prices, and claim form designations. You can also group Service Items together under one main number or name. Libraries are available enterprise-wide, but each practice must designate which Service Items library to use by selecting it in the Libraries Practice Preferences. You can generate the Service Item Library Listing report from the Service Items library. Service Item Library Maintenance Field Descriptions

The following table describe the fields for setting up a Service Item Library. Field Description Search You can search for any specific SIM. If there are less than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, all active SIM items automatically appear in the Search list. If there are more than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, the SIM codes do not appear automatically. You must manually enter the SIM code or the first few digits of the code in the Search field. To find a specific SIM, enter the SIM code. To list all existing SIMs, enter an asterisk. SIM Library Name SIM Library name is a required field. Service Item For a new SIM, you can enter meaningful service item numbers and descriptions to correlate to the appropriate CPT4 code. This field is required. When you search for a SIM, this field displays the SIM that you search for. You can also select the open menu button, select New, and then enter a new service item Number. Hide SIM You can select this check box to hide the SIM. I
