Functions

Template Editor provides an extensive set of functions for: Current field and last edit field with focus Date, time, ID, and name Enterprise Chart, Enterprise Case, Edit/Review Patient Mode Patient age, sex, and insurance/payer Strings Data sheets Databases Growth percentages Number pads, calendars, input boxes, and Array variable picklists Comparing equal and unequal values, evaluating expressions, returning a true/false value, assigning values to an Array variable, and returning the name of the parent template for a Sidebar template You can use functions in: Trigger conditions Value calculations Macro Functions Note: Only string functions are available for use with Note fields. Use of any other function in conjunction with a Note field is not supported. View Macro Functions

You can view existing macro functions and update or delete them as required. You can generate a list of current macro functionsto a specified file location. Do one of the following: Select the Macro Function button on the Main toolbar. In the Trigger Info or Assign Field Values window, right-click a macro function in the Macro Functions list, and then select Show Functions Library. Right-click the body of a template, and then select Macro Functions from the shortcut menu. The Macro Function Library window opens. The Library window lists existing macro function information in four columns: Function name, Macro content, Parameter List, and Comment, if entered. To sort the list by a particular column in ascending or descending order, select the column header. To reverse the order, select the column header again. To display macro function details, select the macro function in the Library window. Information for the selected macro function populates the Function, Name, and Comments boxes an

Update a Macro Function

On the Macro Function Library window, select the macro function you want to update in the Library window. Information for the selected macro function fills the Function, Name, and Comments boxes and the Function Body window. Change the name, comments, expression, and parameters, as needed, following the instructions in Add a Macro Function. To save the changes, select Update to the right of the Library window. Add a Macro Function

On the Macro Function Library window, enter the name for the new macro function in the USR box. You can include an underscore in the name, but none of the following special characters: ! ' " # $ % & ( ) * + , - . / \ : ; < > = ? @ [ ] ^ ` { } | ~ If applicable, fill in the Comments box. In the Function Body window, enter the expression or enter it through the following selections: Double-click the applicable item(s) in the Functions and Macro Functions lists. To quickly find and select a picklist, enter "PICK: to display the Pick List window. To display an IntelliSense list of options that you can select, enter the applicable IntelliSense characters. To replace all instances of a field, variable, or function in the condition with another field, variable, or function, you can use the Find and Replace feature. Trigger Functions

The Trigger Functions icon has been added in the main toolbar which enables you to create and maintain trigger scripts. The Trigger Script displays a list of NextGen® Enterprise EHR and user-defined trigger scripts. The NextGen® Enterprise EHR trigger scripts can only be edited by NextGen® Enterprise EHR users with NextGen® Enterprise EHR admin access. User-defined scripts can be edited by any user. Note: To manage NextGen® Enterprise EHR trigger scripts, Template Editor must be launched in NextGen® Enterprise EHR Admin mode. If you do not have NextGen® Enterprise EHR admin access, you cannot create NextGen® Enterprise EHR trigger scripts or edit a script. The Template Runtime provides the ability to execute a structured code block which performs all the operations of existing trigger actions.
