Macro Functions

Macro functions are custom functions for expressions that you can reuse in more than one template. Macro functions can include standard functions and other macro functions. You can insert macro functions in value calculations on the Assign Field Value window and in conditions on the Trigger Info window. You can export and import macro functions through the Template Import/Export utility. Macro functions can be created by users or by NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine administrators. The functions are prefixed by either USR for user-defined or NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine-defined. Note: You can use NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine macro functions in expressions, but you cannot update or delete them. View Macro Functions

You can view existing macro functions and update or delete them as required. You can generate a list of current macro functionsto a specified file location. Do one of the following: Select the Macro Function button on the Main toolbar. In the Trigger Info or Assign Field Values window, right-click a macro function in the Macro Functions list, and then select Show Functions Library. Right-click the body of a template, and then select Macro Functions from the shortcut menu. The Macro Function Library window opens. The Library window lists existing macro function information in four columns: Function name, Macro content, Parameter List, and Comment, if entered. To sort the list by a particular column in ascending or descending order, select the column header. To reverse the order, select the column header again. Search Trigger Values

You can search for specified values in conditions and parameters for selected types of triggers in the currently open template. The search values can include fields, variables, functions, characters, or other values. You can then select a trigger from the search results for editing. Do one of the following: To automatically populate the search value with a specific template field, either: Right-click the field, and then select Find in Triggers from the menu. Select the field, and then select Find in triggers on the Main toolbar. To manually enter the search value, select Find in Triggers on the Triggers window. The Find In Triggers window opens. If applicable, the search value box displays the selected field. The window contains check boxes for commonly used triggers and for conditions. The Conditions and Assign Field Value check boxes are selected by default. If the search value is blank or you want to change it, enter the value in the input box. Current Field Function

The @This function enables you to assign a value to or from the currently selected field. You can select this function in the following ways: You can select @This from the Assign To field list on the Assign Field Value trigger window. You can select @This Current Field in the Functions list to include @This in the value calculation for an Assign Field Value trigger, the condition for any trigger, or the function body for a macro function.
