Use the Communication Component

The Communication component enables you to document calls or communications that can then be placed on a template. This provides a more functional space to maintain and update data, rather than static form fields of telephone call templates. This component functions as a data-driven workflow to document call types that provide a resource for users to document as well as take any necessary follow-up actions produced by the call. The component is made up of the Communication Component Grid and Action Panel. The Communication component enables a streamlined approach to documenting calls for the following categories: Billing Questions Charges Forms/Record Requests Medical Questions Medication Management Referral Request Test Results Request Other Note: For NextGen® Enterprise, 5.8 UD2 and above, the Communication component must be configured in Template Editor to place on a template. Using Communication Component

The Communication component is used to document calls or communications that can then be placed on a template. This component documents call types to provide a resource for users to document and take any necessary follow-up actions produced by the call. Communication component contains call types such as Billing Questions, Charges, Forms/Records Requests, and so on that concerns respective communications. Open the Communication Component

Access NextGen® Enterprise. Select or create a patient. Select an existing encounter or create a one. On the Top Toolbar, select Templates. The Select Template window opens. On the Medical Records tab in the Show section, select All. Select the template that contains the communication component template and select OK. Communication Component Grid

The Communication Component Grid appears at the top of the Communication component. Communication Component Grid The grid displays details about logged calls made in the Communication component. Details for specific calls can be collapsed and expanded using the and icons next to the call. Calls logged from the previous telephone call template displays in the grid, but these calls can only be viewed in the component. You can make changes to the call based on the Panel properties. After the call is changed or updated, it is displayed as a new row in the Communication Component Grid under the existing Call Type. From the grid, you can: Filter logged calls Create a task for logged and unassociated calls Generate a document for logged calls If you select a communication task from the Workflow module, the Communication component opens and focuses on the call associated with the task. The Sign-Off Comment call type has been added in the Communication component. This call type appears only if
