In the Data Share module, you can use the following features to limit the exporting of sensitive and confidential information:
- Content exclusion list. You can configure this list to exclude selected types of medications, diagnoses, problems, or procedures from exporting, based on their codes.
- Confidential lab results filtering. This feature helps ensure correct handling of lab results marked as confidential in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Confidential lab results are hidden from the Clinical Information pane in the Data Share module unless you are a provider or a lab delegate. Even if you are a provider or lab delegate, confidential lab results are excluded when you export to an external system.
- Sensitive encounter flagging and selection. If an encounter has been marked as sensitive in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the Data Share module displays a warning flag next to that encounter in the Clinical Information tree. Additionally, clinical information filters exclude sensitive encounters by default.
The
Data Share module also allows you to selectively override the restrictions on confidential and sensitive information:
- When you export to file (rather than to an external system), you can choose the Include DSM Exclusions Info option. This option causes clinical data to be included even if this type of data is on the content exclusion list or if the lab is a confidential lab.
- You can manually select sensitive encounters from the Clinical Information tree even if they have the sensitive encounter warning icon and were not initially selected by the clinical information filter.
