Prerequisites for the Data Share Module

To import and export with the Data Share module, you must have licensed the NextGen® Clinical Interface Bundle and arranged for NextGen Healthcare Support to install and configure the following tools: NextGen® Enterprise Rosetta Interface Messenger HIE Gateway To enable the Data Share module to export documents to NextGen® PxP Portal, you must install the NextGen® Patient Access API. Using the Data Share Module to Import and Export Clinical Data

You can use the Data Share module, a feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR, to import and export Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) files to and from designated folders and exchange clinical information with other providers, patients, and institutions such as regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and the Health Information Systems Program (HISP). This Data Share module serves the same function as the Medical Summary Utility but provides a simpler user interface and superior performance. The Medical Summary Utility continues to be available, but its use is deprecated. An earlier version of the Data Share module provided access only to the NextGen® Share Carequality Service. The old version is still available for the convenience of existing users. Open the Data Share Module

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and open a patient. The Quick Buttons panel, the Encounter History and Categories panel opens. left toolbar and Encounter History panel To conserve screen space, select the collapse icon. The Encounter History and Categories panel closes. On the Quick Buttons panel, select the Data Share icon. Data Share The Data Share tab opens in the main pane. Data Share Module Note: If you disabled the Data Share > Use New Data Share Module Universal Preference in System Administrator, then the old version of the Data Share module opens. The old version provides access only to NextGen® Share Carequality Service. Select Filters

On the Export tab,under Clinical Information, set Export Type to Manual Data Selection, and then select a user filter or practice filter from Clinical Information Filter Applied. Selecting a Filter To see which items were selected by the filter, view the Clinical Information list, and expand it as necessary. Note: Selected items are preceded by a check mark Selected Selected Items If any encounters were marked as sensitive in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, a warning message appears to the right of the filter editing icon. Any clinical items from sensitive encounters are preceded by an (exclamation point) in the Clinical Information tree. Clinical information filters do not select items from sensitive encounters, even if those items meet all the criteria defined for the filter. Open the CDA Viewer During a Data Share Module Export

In the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Data Share module, you can open the CDA Viewer to preview a document during an export. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Data Share Module User Guide forNextGen®Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the quick buttons panel, select Data Share icon.The Data Share tab opens in the main pane. Do one of the following: To export most Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs) or C-CDA documents, select the Export tab. To export a public health case report, select Send Public Health Case Report near the top of the Data Share pane. To update a document, select Create Addendum or Create Replacement while viewing a previously exported item on the Home pane. The Export tab opens. Excluding Sensitive Data from Export

In the Data Share module, you can exclude sensitive patient clinical information (medications, diagnoses, problems, and procedures) when exporting Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) documents. You can specify which types of data are sensitive using the NDC, ICD-9, ICD-10, SNOMED-CT®, and CPT®4 code sets. You must define the exclusions relative to a given external system because the needs for different external systems may vary. The set of codes in the NextGen® Enterprise database is subject to change each time you run one of the utilities in the following table. After running any of these utilities, you should determine whether you want to add any of the new codes to the exclusion list in the Data Share module. You can create content exclusions manually in the Data Share module user interfaces. You can also import and export content exclusion lists.
