Prohibit a Renewal Request for New Rx Transactions

You can recommend a pharmacy to not send renewal requests for specific medications. You can use the Prohibit Renewal Request check box under Additional Prescription Detail to prohibit the renewal request. Note: Prohibit Renewal Request is not a restriction, but only a recommendation to not send a renewal request for a specific medication. Open Medications module. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Search for and select the medication. Select and enter information in the following fields: Quantity Duration Refills Problem Dispense As Written Select Additional Prescription Detail. The Additional Prescription Detail pane opens. Select the Prohibit Renewal Request check box. To prescribe the medication, select Accept and then select Send. The Send Prescription window opens. Select Destination. Prescribe Replacement Medications When Renewals Are Denied

When the provider receives a refill denial in the inbox, the provider must resolve the Deny New to Follow DNTF task by prescribing a replacement medication in the Medications module. The replacement medication must be sent back to the pharmacy that initially sent the renewal request. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, search for and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. Open Medications module, and select Prescribe New. Search for and select a replacement medication. Select and enter the following information: Quantity Duration Refills Problem Dispense As Written Enter a note about the replaced medication in the Non-Clinical Notes to Pharmacy. Select Accept, and then select Send. The Send Prescription window opens. In the Send Prescription window, select the Resolved Denied Refills link. The Deny New To Follow window opens. Medication Management

The Medical Management call type concerns communications that involve the status of a patient's current and inactive medications. Select the New Call button and select Medical Management from the Call Type list. The Panels and Panel Items opens. Select the Call Information and Contact Information panel items from the panels. Select Pharmacy. The Pharmacy option appears. If a patient has pharmacy information stored in NextGen® Enterprise, the information displays automatically. Select a Preferred Pharmacy for the patient or select Search. The Pharmacy Search window opens. Pharmacy Search Search for a stored pharmacy in your system and select OK to add it to the Preferred Pharmacy list. If you need to add a new pharmacy's information to your system, you can do so from Add Pharmacy to System. Select Medication(s). The Medication(s) option appears.
