Using the Data Share Module to Import and Export Clinical Data

You can use the Data Share module, a feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR, to import and export Continuity of Care Document (CCD) and Consolidated Clinical Document Architecture (C-CDA) files to and from designated folders and exchange clinical information with other providers, patients, and institutions such as regional health information organizations (RHIOs) and the Health Information Systems Program (HISP). This Data Share module serves the same function as the Medical Summary Utility but provides a simpler user interface and superior performance. The Medical Summary Utility continues to be available, but its use is deprecated. An earlier version of the Data Share module provided access only to the NextGen® Share Carequality Service. The old version is still available for the convenience of existing users. On-Demand Registration

You can use the on-demand registration feature to store patient information in the IHE Cross-Enterprise Document Sharing (XDS) registry to allow other members of the regional health information organization (RHIO) to retrieve patient documents regardless of where the documents are actually stored (in the XDS repository or your database). Note: Prior to using on-demand registration, you must contact NextGen Healthcare Support and ask them to perform the necessary configuration in Rosetta and the HIE Gateway. On-demand registration is affected by the Enterprise Chart feature as follows: When Enterprise Chart is enabled, on-demand registration is shared across practices, and only one on-demand registration is required for a patient. When Enterprise Chart is not enabled, you can perform on-demand registration for a patient at each practice. Manage On-Demand Registration Accounts

Once patients are successfully registered, you can update their registration information and suspend or reactivate their accounts. In the Data Share module, select Open On Demand Configuration Dialog . Select On Demand The On Demand Registration window opens. On Demand Registration Window If you are connected to multiple HIEs, select from the External System list. To display available menu options, right-click in the data grid. Displaying Menu Options To update the registration information, do the following: Right-click in the data grid, select Update, and modify the information as needed. Select OK.A message appears stating that the on-demand registration was updated. To close the message, select OK. To suspend an active registration, do the following: Right-click in the data grid, and then select Suspend.A message appears stating that on-demand registration succeeded. To close the message, select OK. To update the status, select Refresh. The status in the data grid now displays INACT

Register a Patient for On-Demand Access

In the Data Share module, select Open On Demand Configuration Dialog . Select On Demand The On Demand Registration window opens. On Demand Registration Window If you are connected to multiple HIEs, select the appropriate External System. In the General section, enter the Document Title. In the Codes section, do the following: Select aConfidentiality code: No Sharing: This item is not to be imported from or exported to an external system under any circumstances. Normal Sharing: Only authorized individuals with a legitimate or medical business may access this item. Restricted Sharing: Only providers with a current care relationship to the patient can access this item. Sensitive Sharing: The patient seeks heightened confidentiality for this information, which is not to be shared with family members. Default behavior: same as normal. Enterprise Chart and Interoperability

The following rules apply when using patient consent, importing Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs), and using on-demand registration in conjunction with Enterprise Chart. Note: : These functions require the installation and configuration of NextGen® Enterprise EHR Connect. An enterprise-wide consent policy can be configured for each combination of enterprise and external system. Consent policies can include practice overrides that change the consent default for particular practices.
