Defining the Specimen Charges Master File
If your practice does the specimen collection for a test, you can bill the insurance company for that portion of the test. For each specimen draw that you perform, you have to define the SIM code. The SIM code determines what is charged. The Specimen Charges master file lists all the specimens that can be charged for by your practice. Once you add a specimen, you can update it or hide it but you cannot delete it. The specimens listed in the master file display in the Specimen Charge list of the New Order form in the Orders module. Select File Maintenance > Master Files > System > Specimen Charges. The Specimen Charge List window opens. Select the Open Menu button, and then select New. The Add Specimen Charge window opens. Select the Open Record button. The Specimen SIM Code Search window opens. Select the Description to search by description name. The appears in the column header. Enter the test name. Select the test in the Available list, and then select the Include button. The test moves from the Available list to the Included list. To remove a test, select the test in the Included list, and then select the Exclude button. The test moves from the Included list to the Available list. Select OK. Add Office Visit and Charge Details
Open NextGen® Mobile. Open the Patient Chart view. Select Today's Visit. Note: You must add or select an unlocked encounter. Select Charges.In Charges, the previously added office visit and procedure codes appear. In the Office Visit section, select AddIn Office Visit, the available office visit modules are listed. Optional: To turn on additional office visit modules, do the following: Select the settings icon. In the Office Visit Settings view, select the modules, and then select Save. Note: By default, the New Visit and Established Visit modules are available. You can change the module levels based on complexity or tier levels. You can also reorder the modules by selecting and moving a module within the list. To add an office visit to a charge, select office visit codes from the modules, and then select Add. Add SIM Groups
In File Maintenance, select Libraries, and then select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. To create a new SIM Group, select open menu button , and select New. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. In SIM Group field, enter a short name of the SIM Group. In the Description field, enter a description of the SIM Group. To add a new SIM, select Open Folder and search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. To remove a SIM item from the Available list by selecting the SIM item and then the blue Exclude arrow. The indicates the search type. If the icon is listed next to the SIM column, the system will search by SIM number. You can select the Description column, which enables you to search by the service item description. The service item must already exist in the Service Item Library before you can add it

Configure Non-Encounter Rate SIMs and Automatic Adjustments
Open File Maintenance. Select Libraries > Encounter Rate Billing. The Encounter Rate Billing List window opens. Do one of the following: To add a library, select the open menu button and then select New. To modify a library, select the library from the list, select the open menu button , and then select Open. The Encounter Rate Billing Library Maintenance window opens. Select the Claim SIM Options tab. In the Claim Service Range Options section, select the open menu button and then select New. The Alt Payer Number SIM Range window opens. Enter the SIM number or the beginning SIM number for a range of SIMs that you want to apply to a claim SIM option. Note: For a range of SIM numbers, enter the ending SIM number. The ending SIM is required, but can be the same as the beginning SIM, functionally choosing that as a single SIM. Select OK.
