Defining the Specimen Charges Master File

If your practice does the specimen collection for a test, you can bill the insurance company for that portion of the test. For each specimen draw that you perform, you have to define the SIM code. The SIM code determines what is charged. The Specimen Charges master file lists all the specimens that can be charged for by your practice. Once you add a specimen, you can update it or hide it but you cannot delete it. The specimens listed in the master file display in the Specimen Charge list of the New Order form in the Orders module. Add SIM Groups

In File Maintenance, select Libraries, and then select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. To create a new SIM Group, select open menu button , and select New. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. In SIM Group field, enter a short name of the SIM Group. In the Description field, enter a description of the SIM Group. To add a new SIM, select Open Folder and search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. To remove a SIM item from the Available list by selecting the SIM item and then the blue Exclude arrow. The indicates the search type. If the icon is listed next to the SIM column, the system will search by SIM number. You can select the Description column, which enables you to search by the service item description. The service item must already exist in the Service Item Library before you can add it

Modify Existing SIM Groups

In File Maintenance > Libraries select Service Items. The Service Items List window opens. Select the applicable library, right-click and select SIM Groups. The SIM Groups List window opens. Double-click the SIM Group. The SIM Group Maintenance window opens. To modify a SIM or add a new SIM, select Open Folder. The Service Items window opens. Do one of the following: To add a new SIM, search for the SIM. To add the item to the group, use the blue Include arrow to move the item to the Available list. The indicates the search type. If the icon is listed next to the SIM column, the system will search by SIM number. You can select the Description column, which enables you to search by the service item description. Add Office Visit and Charge Details

Open NextGen® Mobile. Open the Patient Chart view. Select Today's Visit. Note: You must add or select an unlocked encounter. Select Charges.In Charges, the previously added office visit and procedure codes appear. In the Office Visit section, select AddIn Office Visit, the available office visit modules are listed. Optional: To turn on additional office visit modules, do the following: Select the settings icon. In the Office Visit Settings view, select the modules, and then select Save. Note: By default, the New Visit and Established Visit modules are available. You can change the module levels based on complexity or tier levels. You can also reorder the modules by selecting and moving a module within the list. To add an office visit to a charge, select office visit codes from the modules, and then select Add. Manage Service Categories

In File Maintenance, you can add or remove the service items within a service category used for standing orders. Open the File Maintenance. In Master Files, click EHR under System. From EHR Master Files - System, click Service Categories. The Service Categories List window opens. In Service Categories List Search field, type the first few letters of the service category name. For detailed information about the naming conventions of service categories, see the Double-click the desired category in the search window to display the Modify Service Category Information window with a list of service items available in the service category. The Key column displays the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes associated with the service category. The Service column lists the full description for the procedures. If a code appears twice in the list, then one code is in the default Service Item library of the current practice while the other is in a different library. A check mark in a row indic

SIM Pricing Template Library Field Descriptions

Use the following table as a reference when you add or modify service items. Section Description Search Located on the left side of the dialog box, this section enables you to search for specific SIM. If there are fewer than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, all active SIM items automatically display in the Search list. If there are more than 50 SIM items defined in the SIM Library, the SIM codes do not automatically display. Instead, you must manually enter the SIM code or the first few digits of the code in the Search field. To find a specific SIM, enter the SIM code. To list all existing SIMs, enter an asterisk. Service Item # For a new SIM, enter meaningful Service Item numbers and descriptions to correlate to the appropriate CPT4 code. If you searched for a SIM, this field displays the SIM that you searched for. In addition, you can select the Open menu button, select New, and then enter a new Service Item Number. Hide SIM Select this check box if you want to hide this SIM.
