Configure Medication Verification

You can enable or disable medication verification. If you enable medication verification, you are prompted to enter your password when you fax, print, or ePrescribe a medication even if the medication is not a controlled substance. Medication Verification In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, from the Main menu, select Tools > Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Select the Medications tab. Do one of the following: To enable medication verification, select Use Medication Verification. To disable medication verification, clear Use Medication Verification. Printing Patient Prescriptions

You can print a prescription to hand over to the patient. The following apply: If you print or fax a controlled substance prescription, you can no longer ePrescribe the prescription. If you ePrescribe a controlled substance, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must indicate that the printed or faxed copy is "not for dispensing." If you ePrescribe a controlled substance and the transmission fails, you can print or fax the prescription. The printed or faxed report must display a message that states the prescription was originally sent electronically to a pharmacy. The pharmacy’s name, and the date and time of the eRx message must display. The message must also show that the eRx message failed. If the Verify PIN Universal Preference is set to True, you are required to provide Medication Verification when printing a patient prescription. Formulary Search

NextGen® Enterprise EHR allows you to search for and prescribe medications using the formulary or non-formulary search. You can select to use the medication search window or the formulary search window. To use the formulary search window, you must have either Surescripts or InfoScan services enabled. Print the sample report. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select a patient. Select or create an encounter. Select Medications on Top Toolbar. The Medications Module window opens. Medications Module Select Prescribe New to prescribe a medication. Select Add Note link. The Medication Note window opens. Medication Note Scan a barcode from your report. The result appears in the Medication Note window. Medication Note Verify that the result in the Medication Note window matches the barcode you scanned.
