The Categories tab in EHR displays information in specific categories to provide easier access to patient information. The images, templates, documents, and NG DM images are grouped into separate categories based on user-level configuration.
You can expand or collapse the
Categories along with the
Encounters tab using the

button.
Note: The system retains the user's last preference.
The
Categories tab includes the following components:

Open Template

Creates a template and adds it to the categories.

Filter
-
Displays the list of categories for specified parameters.

List View
-
Displays the list of existing documents without grouping.

Tree View
-
Displays the list of existing documents with category grouping.
-
All
-
Displays all the documents, images, or files associated with the selected patient based on the practice set up by default.

My Categories
-
Displays the documents, images, or files that are part of the users'-favorite categories based on the user-level configurations.

Search
-
For EHR-generated documents, searches within a document to find an associated file, and for other document types searches with the document name and image name.

Refresh button
-
Refreshes the file display content and arranges the list of categories in chronological order.

My Patient History Settings

You can select the categories to be displayed in the My Categories list.

You can set the Nextgen Document management Items configuration to display the NextGen® Document Management Images.
CAUTION:
If the service date is available for patient documents and images added to the chart through an interface, the
Categories tab displays the service date instead of the encounter date.
Note: Only the categories with the existing items are displayed when you switch between the
All and
My Categories tabs.
If your Carequality or Surescripts® National Record Locator Service (NRLS) documents are configured to be automatically imported into the patient chart, they can be viewed in the Categories tab.
