Add a Task to an Existing In-Progress Encounter
When you run the Add New Task trigger to add a NextGen® Enterprise PM task, you can link the task to an existing In-Progress encounter. An In-Progress encounter captures charges and transactions for work or care that has not been completed or delivered. This feature enables you to: Avoid generating new encounters when an appropriate In-Progress encounter exists for a new NextGen® Enterprise PM task that you are generating in a NextGen® Enterprise EHR template. Ensure that all NextGen® Enterprise PM tasks related to a given In-Progress encounter are identified correctly so your business operations are not adversely impacted. CAUTION: If an In-Progress encounter ID is not available for return to the trigger, use alternate means to ensure that tasking can be completed. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the patient's chart. Open the applicable template. Run the Add New Task trigger. If a valid In-Progress encounter ID is returned, the system adds the new NextGen® Enterprise PM task and link

When you run the Add New Task trigger to add a NextGen® Enterprise PM task, you can link the task to an existing In-Progress encounter. Creating Tasks for NextGen® Enterprise
You can generate tasks to be sent to users in NextGen® Enterprise from within NextGen® Enterprise PM in the following areas: Patient Chart > Encounters tab: Right-click an encounter and select EHR Tasks from the menu. Patient Chart > Clinical History/Notes tab > Tasks topic: Right-click and select New EHR Tasks from the menu. Encounter Lookup: Right-click an encounter and select EHR Tasks from the menu. Tasks menu > Create EHR Task After the new task is sent to NextGen® Enterprise, it no longer displays in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The tasks can be viewed only within NextGen® Enterprise. Create Tasks for NextGen® Enterprise
Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Do one of the following: Open a patient chart and from the Encounters tab, right-click an encounter and select EHR Tasks from the menu. Open a patient chart and from the Clinical History/Notes tab, right-click on Tasks under Topics and select New EHR Tasks from the menu. From the Encounter Lookup window, right-click an encounter, and then select EHR Tasks from the menu. Select Tasks menu > Create EHR Task. The Add EHR Task window opens. Enter the necessary details in the required fields, and then select OK. After the new task is sent to NextGen® Enterprise, it no longer displays in NextGen® Enterprise PM. The tasks can be viewed only within NextGen® Enterprise.

Create Tasks from the Threshold Tracking Report
Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. Generate a Threshold Tracking report. The report appears on screen. From the report toolbar, select Tasks . The Add Tasks from Report window opens. In the Task Type field, select the task to be created for each encounter on the report. In the Assigned To field, select the users the tasks will be assigned to. Enter additional information for the tasks as needed. To save changes and close the window, select OK. The following prompt displays for encounters on the report that do not have an existing open task: n source(s) on this report do not have an open task of this type assigned. Confirm mass creation of n task(s). The following prompt displays for encounters on the report that do have an existing open task: n source(s) on this report already have an open task of this type assigned. The following prompt displays when all encounters on the report already have an existing open task: Cannot add any tasks. Every source on this report already has an open task
