Importing Compendiums or Updates with the Orders Management Console

After you have configured the initial settings for the Orders Management Console, you can load or update a test order compendium. You must import compendiums to make them available to the Orders module; the NextGen database does not contain any compendiums initially. When running the Orders Management Console, the sequence in which you process the vendors is enforced by the program. You get an error message if you try to load a vendor list before NextGen or LOINC. You can load the compendiums in the following order: NextGen LOINC Vendors (for example, Labcorp, Veredigm labs) If you have updated the NextGen compendium file, and there are no changes to the LOINC code, you update the vendor compendium. The initial load and any updates come from the Web Server URL defined in your settings. Select the Confidential Test Indicator in the NextGen Compendium in the Orders Management Console

As a provider, you may want to restrict access to certain test results. If you select the Confidential indicator for a test when it is being loaded with the NextGen compendium, you can control access to it and keep the results confidential. Open the Orders Management Console. Select NextGen compendium. Look for the Confidential column and select the check box for any test that you want confidential for your practice. Select Save to store the values and the compendium is stored. Note: Continue with loading the compendium files. Settings for First Time Use of the Orders Management Console

To use the Orders Management Console, you start by selecting your desktop button, or select Orders Management Console from the NextGen application launcher. You are asked for a user log on. You should also choose your Enterprise and Practice. When you use the Orders Management Console the configuration options need to be set up (select Settings on the bottom left on the screen). When you use the Orders Management Console for the first time, if the required settings are incomplete, a warning is displayed. Note: : This warning is displayed every time the Orders Management Console is started with undefined or incomplete settings. When you select OK, you are automatically presented with the configuration Orders Management Console window where you enter the Settings to run the Compendium Management program. Update NextGen Test Code in a Compendium

You can update the NextGen Test associated with a test in a compendium. Open Orders Management Console. Open the download of a compendium. Select the down arrow next to the test code and select a code from the list of similar tests. Select Save or Save Modified. The new test code is saved. Note: In the Order Test Codes page of the Labcorp compendium, the New NextGen Test (Code) column displays the new test description with code, and the Current NextGen Test (Code) column displays the existing description with code from the NextGen database. New data is loaded into your database from a file created by NextGen System Support Double-click the shortcut on the desktop or select the Orders Management Console from the application launcher. Enter your credentials. The Orders Management Console application window opens. Select the option for the NextGen Test Compendium and select Download. The list of new tests available appears. If no new items are available, a message appears stating that there are no records to process. Use the color controls defined in this chapter to help with the processing of each new test. Orders Management Console

The Orders Management Console is used for loading lab and radiology test compendiums into NextGen® Enterprise EHR. It is accessed through the application launcher. The Orders Management Console can also be used to update test compendiums that are loaded into your NextGen® Enterprise EHR database. The importing and updating of vendor specific compendiums is based on NextGen® Enterprise EHR's support of the compendium for that specific vendor, for example Labcorp. The current version of NextGen® Enterprise EHR can only be used to add and update the NextGen, LOINC, Quest compendiums, and Labcorp compendiums.
