Select Vaccines
To begin the Immunizations ordering process, select a vaccine or group of vaccines on the Select Vaccine tabs. You can select vaccines using different options, such as by favorites, pediatrics, adult, categories, or searching all vaccines.
- To create a new immunizations order, from the Immunizations tab, select the New Order list, and select Immunization Order.
The Create New Immunization Orders for patient name window opens on the Select Vaccines tab.
- Select scheduled vaccines for the patient using the appropriate option, for example, Favorites or Search.
If a diagnosis is associated with the vaccine, the diagnosis is displayed when you select the vaccine.Note: Any unresolved diagnoses for the vaccine display for more information and consultation, if necessary.
- Review any existing allergies and select, if applicable. If not, select No To All Allergies.
Note: The Allergy Review window does not appear automatically if it has been disabled in the Orders Practice Preferences in File Maintenance.Note: Once you select allergies for a patient and select Save, allergy alerts display at the top of the Create New/Update Immunizations Order window. For existing patients, previously selected allergies also appear. The system also checks allergies included in the patient's chart (Only common allergies associated with vaccines appear).
- If the vaccine was ordered verbally, select Verbal Order.
- If counseling was provided, select the Counseled check box.
Note: The system retrieves the appropriate Counseling code based on the patient's age and number of components of the administered vaccines.
- If you want to order vaccines outside of the standard schedule, select the appropriate vaccine and select the Exception check box.
Note: Marking a vaccine as an exception allows the remaining vaccines to retain their original schedule.
- Verify DUR (Drug Interaction Information), if applicable on the DUR alert.
Note: To check the drug interactions manually, select Check Interactions.
- If you acknowledge a contradiction on the DUR alert, the Administer or Exclude a vaccine window opens.
- Select Administer or Not Administered.
- Select the appropriate Save option:
- To save the changes, selecr Save.
- To save the changes and send to the appropriate group (for example, Nursing), select Save & Task.
Note: If the System Administrator > Universal Preferences > Workflow > Task Recipients by Practice value is set to True, only users for the current practice display for the selection.The selected Immunizations status displays on the Chart View and Recommendation View, for example Pending.

The Favorites category allow you to view the most used immunization orders and save time while selecting vaccines. - Select Vaccines by Searching
The Search All option enables you to search for any vaccine using Vaccine Name, CVX code, CPT4 code, or CPT4 description.
