RxChange Response Type	Description
Approved	Accepts the pharmacy's request. The original medication becomes inactive and a new medication entry is created.
Approved with Changes	Enables the provider to make changes to the pharmacy's request before responding. The original medication becomes inactive and a new medication entry is created.
Deny	Does not make any changes to either the original medication or the patient's records.
Validated	Enables the provider to select Approve and send a Validated response. This response is applicable only to the Prescriber Authorization request.
Denied	Enables the provider to select Deny and send a Denial response and select a reason for denial. This response is applicable only to the Prescriber Authorization request.

RxChange Message Types Use Cases

A pharmacy sends an RxChange request message to request a change to a new or fillable prescription. Providers who are currently enrolled in the RxChange service level can receive new RxChange request types from the pharmacy. A provider can respond to a RxChange request for the RxChange messages in the Workflow > Clinical Tasking > Inbox. The RxChange message types use cases are: Out of Stock A provider can respond to the Out of Stock RxChange request from the pharmacy, and prescribe an alternate medication for the out-of-stock prescription items. This use case is used to request a prescriber to authorize a change to the original prescription if the pharmacy is out of stock of the requested medication. Prescriber Authorization A provider can respond to the Prescriber Authorization RxChange request from the pharmacy to validate any missing provider information needed for the patient’s prescription. Rx Change Requests in the Workflow Module Inbox

The Clinical Tasking tab on the Workflow window displays your outstanding tasks. For an Rx Change request, you can approve, approve with changes, or deny it on the Clinical Tasking list. For more information about the Clinical Tasking tab, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Workflow Module Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. A patient Inclusion or Exclusion List may restrict your access to Rx Change requests. If you are a workflow delegate for another user or provider, you may not be able to access the same refill requests as that person. If you do not have access to a patient, the Restricted message appears under the Patient Name, Subject, and Description columns. Deny an RxChange Request from the Workflow Module

You can deny an RxChange request task from the Workflow module. When you deny an RxChange request task, NextGen® Enterprise EHR sends a notification to the pharmacy stating the reason for denial. The reason for denial depends on the RxChange request type. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select an RxChange request from the task list. The RxChange request details and patient information appears. Select Deny. The reasons for denial appear. eRx DCustom Denial Reasons Note: The reasons for denial may differ depending on the RxChange request type. If you configure custom denial reasons, NextGen® Enterprise EHR includes eRx custom denial reasons in the denial reasons list. View RxChange Messages on Encounter History

When you receive an Rx Change request and approve or deny the request, a notification is added to the patient's chart. The Encounter History displays the notifications as email items. Note: To view a list of all Rx Change Request and Rx Change Response messages, you can open the eRx Status window and filter on the Message Type. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter and select the icon.The Encounter Details window opens. Under Documents & Images, select a notification.Depending on the notification you select, the details display on the RxChange Prescription Request tab or the RxChange Prescription Response tab. Approve an Rx Change Request from the Workflow Module

You can approve the Rx Change request for different request types from the Workflow module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select an Rx Change request from the task list. The Rx Change request details and patient information appear. Select the appropriate request type and do one of the following: If the request type is Prior Authorization, enter the Prior Authorization ID provided by the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) and if necessary, select a Date. If the request type is Generic Substitution, select a generic medication under Suggested Medication. If the request type is Drug Use Evaluation, Script Clarification, or Out of Stock, select a generic medication under Suggested Medication. Receive RxChange Notification Messages

Setup to receive Rx Change notification messages involves setup by administrator and by the user. The administrator should do the following: Verify that the retail pharmacy participates in Rx Change transactions. To update pharmacy records, perform a pharmacy download. For the appropriate service level, enroll the Surescripts provider for Rx Change. You can verify enrollment by checking the eRx provider status. Assign the RxChange task type, eRx workgroup, and category to the provider. Rx Change messages can be sent from the pharmacy to the prescribing provider or to the Rx Change workgroup setup for the prescribing provider. Verify the user needs access to Clinical Tasking Inbox is this a security right? Verify the user has Operations > Medications > eRxsecurity rights in the System Administrator application.
