EHR Alerts Tab

The EHR tab displays the total number of NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts and lists each alert type and message in a table. Certain alerts may be set to display in bold red type with a flag symbol to make them stand out in the list. The alerts that require acknowledgement are placed at the top of the chart and are selected by default when you open the Patient Alerts window. You can filter NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts by type and change the sort order. You can also remove alerts if they are not needed. To perform alert actions, you can select buttons at the bottom of the window or select actions from a right-click menu. View Patient Alerts

You can view a quick list of all available NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts for the patient on the Patient Information Card (PIC). You can also open the Patient Alerts window to view, acknowledge, add, edit, snooze, and remove the patient's NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts. Note: The Alerts button in red color with a numeric count; indicates that there are patient alerts available. For example, . When there are no alerts, the button appears as . Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To view a quick list of available alerts for the patient; on the PIC, hover over Alerts.The Alerts table appears listing the patient alerts by type and description. Alerts Report

The Alerts report can be used to generate a list of custom alert messages that display to users in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Custom alerts are created by users in a guarantor's Account Profile > Notes tab, or in a patient's Patient Chart > Clinical History/Notes tab. From the report window, you can "drill-down" to the account or chart to see the actual alert message. Note: The Alerts report does not include system-generated alert messages that display based on settings in Practice Preferences > Alerts. Alerts

Alerts in NextGen® Enterprise PM are pop-up windows that display to capture your attention with important information that is related to the current task. Most alerts are system generated and display based on settings in Practice Preferences > Alerts. Other alerts are user generated and display based on entries made in the Account Profile and Patient Chart. Alerts Practice Preferences The Alerts practice preferences control when the Chart, Account, Appointment Scheduling, Managed Care, Payer, and System alerts display in NextGen® Enterprise PM and NextGen® Optical Management. NextGen® EDR Patient Information Bar Descriptions

The following tables provide additional descriptions for the Patient Demographic Information and Alerts section of Patient Information Bar. You can use this table when setting up NextGen® Enterprise EHR Patient Information Bar Practice Preferences. Patient Demographic Information You can select up to three types of demographic information to display on the Patient Information Bar. Select this check box... To display... MRN The patient Medical Record Number. Parent/Guardian The name of the patient parent or guardian. Enterprise Chart Indicator Whether the chart is an enterprise chart. Patient Insurance Name of the patient insurer. Encounter Insurance Whether one or more insurances are added to the encounter for billing purposes. Preferred Language The patient preferred language. Preferred Name The patient preferred name. Patient Portal Indicator Whether the patient is enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal Patient Portal or not. Patient Alerts Module Trigger

You can access the Alerts module from a template trigger instead of the Alerts button on the Patient Information Card (PIC). The trigger can be used whether the PIC is disabled or enabled. The Goto Module/Alerts trigger is set up in Template Editor. When you execute the trigger, the Patient Alerts window opens, listing predefined or custom patient alerts. NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts appear in separate tabs on the window. You can view, add, edit, and remove alerts for the patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, depending on your access rights for Patient Alerts. You can also view any NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts if the Display PM Alerts practice preference has been enabled in the File Maintenance application. You cannot take any action on NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts within NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Note: If you are using NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, 8.3 or later, existing alerts are automatically migrated to the Alerts module introduced in NextGen® Enter
