Setting Up and Maintaining Your Practice's Orders Workflow Foundation

To schedule, process, track, and complete your order more efficiently, you need to set up the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to meet your specific practice needs. Once you set up your NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, you can then update and maintain these settings as your business needs change and the Orders process evolves over time. Before performing Orders tasks, such as creating and sending Lab and Radiology orders, you need to set up the appropriate system rights, preferences, and tasks for the Orders module. The setup enables you to establish the workflow foundation for your practice or enterprise and enables providers and the clinical staff to access and use the appropriate functionality. The Orders module setup functions and options provide flexibility and enable you to establish a strong foundation for your Orders life cycle. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Managing Today's Orders

You can process lab or radiology orders documented by the provider on the My Plan template. You can add and edit an order in the Today's Orders panel. To place any follow-up order, you can use the Follow Up button. Several types of orders are available in the Today's Orders panel. The numbers next to the order types indicate the number of items in the queue for that type of order. In the beginning, you must select the order type, and then you need to select Add or Edit to open the respective order template to add or update the details. To place an order from the Orders Console template, you must select the Enable Order Module check box in the Orders/Plans section on the Practice Configuration template. Process Lab Orders You can process lab orders from the Process and Submit Lab/Radiology Orders template. Lab and Radiology Test Result Sign-off

On the Orders Summary tab, orders with a status of Assigned can be signed off. You can add sign-off comments in the Validation Sign-off window before you save the order. After you save the signed-off the order, it appears on the Orders Summary tab with a status of Signed-off. You can access the signed-off order on the Orders Summary tab and enter additional sign-off or tracking comments in the Sign-Off and Tracking Comments section, if necessary. You can set up the sign-off rights for the providers in your practice.
