Patient Document Generation

You can generate patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the workstation you are logged on to or offline on a remote workstation. Before generating a particular document, make sure that you have selected a patient. Also you can check that all the relevant data is entered into the patient medical record. You can select options to save or print a patient document or send it to a patient account on NextGen® PxP Portal website when it is generated. You can create documents in two other ways: A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a document. Use NextGen® Enterprise EHR Quick View feature to generate a document in real time as you work on a patient encounter. You can then save and attach the document to the patient chart. Encounter History/Categories Document Menu

You can select a patient document on the Encounter History or Categories tab to display the document menu with the following commands: Command Description Provider Signoff Details Displays the current signoff status, rendering provider, provider reassignment (if applicable), and comments for a patient document. Send to Patient Portal Opens the Patient Portal Document Export window to export a document, image, or SAP® Crystal Reports® to NextGen® PxP Portal for patients enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. Note: If the document is sent to NextGen® PxP Portal, the icon appears next to the document icon. Patient Portal History Details Displays the audit trail of a document that is sent to NextGen® PxP Portal. Recategorize Opens the Recategorize this item window. Properties Displays the document and encounter information, file properties, and user permissions for a selected patient document. View the Patient Portal History Details

When you send a NextGen® Enterprise EHR patient chart item such as a document, image, or SAP® Crystal Reports® to a NextGen® PxP Portal, the system creates an audit trail. The system also records when the patient opens the item from the NextGen® PxP Portal. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a NextGen® PxP Portal enrolled patient from the Patient Lookup window. To view the history details of an item sent to NextGen® PxP Portal, do one of the following: Select the Encounter History tab, Select an encounter, and select the button to open the Encounter Details window. Send Patient Documents from Encounter History

Before you begin To send the NextGen® Document Management images to NextGen® PxP Portal, ensure that the Rights > Operations > Imaging > Send Doc Mgmt Image to Patient Portal in System Administrator must be set to True and the necessary access rights must be enabled. If the right is set to No, the Send to Patient Portal option appears disabled for the selected image. You must also select the Patient Portal Accessible check box for the document type in File Maintenance. You can export documents, images, or SAP® Crystal Reports® objects from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to NextGen® PxP Portal for patients enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal. Patient Documents

Patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR can be a medical or lab report, a referral form, a professional letter, or any other custom-designed form. You can generate new patient documents from previously created user-defined format documents in the Document Builder. When a patient document is generated, macros in format documents insert data from selected template fields. A patient document can be created locally or remotely on a remote workstation. The patient documents are attached to the applicable encounter in the patient's chart. The patient's chart may also contain documents created outside Document Builder. Third-party documents are imported through the NextGen® Interface Engine Document Import Agent. NextGen® Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Continuity-of-Care (CCD) documents are attached to the NextGen® HIE Documents Category of the Categories tab. Export Patient Documents to NextGen® PxP Portal

You can export documents to NextGen® PxP Portal for an enrolled patient. To select documents for export, follow step 1 to step 5 in Select Patient Documents for Export. On the Export Patient Documents window, select Patient Portal, and then select Export. If you have included sensitive data, the Sensitive Encounter data selected window opens. To cancel the export, select Cancel sending. The Export Patient Documents window comes back in view. You can change your selections, and then select Export again. To continue, select Proceed. After you select Export or Proceed, the Send Documents to <Patient Name> window opens, listing the selected documents. To search the list of documents, enter the first few letters of the name.
