Patient Document Generation

You can generate patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the workstation you are logged on to or offline on a remote workstation. Before generating a particular document, make sure that you have selected a patient. Also you can check that all the relevant data is entered into the patient medical record. You can select options to save or print a patient document or send it to a patient account on NextGen® PxP Portal website when it is generated. You can create documents in two other ways: A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a document. Use NextGen® Enterprise EHR Quick View feature to generate a document in real time as you work on a patient encounter. You can then save and attach the document to the patient chart. NextGen® PxP Portal Document Export

You can export a patient document from the patient chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR to the patient NextGen® PxP Portal account. You can export the patient document from the Encounter History or the Categories tab. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to export documents to the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account in a number of other ways: From the File menu, you can select Export Patient Documents, or can select Patient Portal > Documents > Send EHR Document. Send Patient Documents from Encounter History

Before you begin To send the NextGen® Document Management images to NextGen® PxP Portal, ensure that the Rights > Operations > Imaging > Send Doc Mgmt Image to Patient Portal in System Administrator must be set to True and the necessary access rights must be enabled. If the right is set to No, the Send to Patient Portal option appears disabled for the selected image. You must also select the Patient Portal Accessible check box for the document type in File Maintenance. Patient Documents

Patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR can be a medical or lab report, a referral form, a professional letter, or any other custom-designed form. You can generate new patient documents from previously created user-defined format documents in the Document Builder. When a patient document is generated, macros in format documents insert data from selected template fields. A patient document can be created locally or remotely on a remote workstation. The patient documents are attached to the applicable encounter in the patient's chart. The patient's chart may also contain documents created outside Document Builder. Third-party documents are imported through the NextGen® Interface Engine Document Import Agent. NextGen® Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Continuity-of-Care (CCD) documents are attached to the NextGen® HIE Documents Category of the Categories tab. You can send documents and images from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to a patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account. When you send a NextGen® Enterprise EHR patient chart item such as a document, image, or SAP® Crystal Reports® to a NextGen® PxP Portal, the system creates an audit trail. The system also records when the patient opens the item from the NextGen® PxP Portal. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a NextGen® PxP Portal enrolled patient from the Patient Lookup window.
