NDC Fields

Column	Description
NDC Id	Enter the unique 11-digit, 3-segment National Drug Code number. If the number you have is not 11 digits, you must enter the necessary preceding zeros. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM.
CPT4	Enter the CPT4 code associated with the NDC. You can enter up to nine characters with two modifiers.
Eff Date	Enter the date the NDC becomes effective. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. If you entered an incorrect date and you want to move the cursor to the front of the cell, select the cell, and then select F2.
Exp Date	Enter the date the NDC ends. Note: The system automatically formats the number when the charge is passed to NextGen® Enterprise PM. If you entered an incorrect date and you want to move the cursor to the front of the cell, select the cell, and then select F2.
NDC Description	Enter the drug name, vendor, and trade package size.
Drug Unit Price	Enter the drug unit price for the applicable CPT4 code. The field is for reference purposes only. The default value is $0.00.
Basis of Measure	Select the drug unit of measure.
Drug Unit Count	Enter the dosage form, which is based on the second segment of NDC. The second segment indicates a specific strength, dosage form, and formulation. For example, the NDC number 00004-1964-04 indicates a 1 GR vial, so you would enter 1 in the Drug Unit Count field.
Medicare_Billing_Code	Enter the alternate Medicare billing code (Q code). Note: If the selected Flu vaccine has an associated Medicare Billing code (or Q code) and exists in the NDC Library, the system displays this code when the user completes an Immunizations order in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Immunizations module. The system then passes the Q code to NextGen® Enterprise PM for charging.

Set Up Alternate Medicare Billing Q Codes in the NDC Library

In NextGen File Maintenance, select Libraries > NDC. The NDC List window opens. From the list, open the default NDC Library as specified in the Libraries > Practice Preferences. The NDC List Maintenance window opens. Use the Filter Criteria section to search for an existing NDC by ID, Description, or associated CPT4 code. Enter or modify the NDC information. After adding the Medicare Billing code information, select OK. Tip: After entering your Q codes and completing your NDC Library updates, select the Default NDC Library in File Maintenance > Practice Preferences to enable the NDC feature for your practice. Alternate Medicare Billing Q Codes in the NDC Library

The NDC Library enables you to create an NDC drug product list to help you manage billing for the vaccines given to patients. Add or Modify an NDC (National Drug Code) Library

NDC is a universal product identifier for human drugs. Each drug product listed is assigned a unique 11-digit, 3-segment number. This number, known as NDC identifies the labeler or vendor, product, and trade package size. Access to the NDC Library enables users to enter new NDC ID values to the library. A user only has access when the security right for the NDC Libraries module is selected (under MODULES > File Maintenance) for the group that the user is in. Open File Maintenance and select Libraries > NDC. The NDC List window opens. From the NDC List window, select the open menu button to add or open an existing NDC library. The NDC List Maintenance window opens. Search for an NDC code using the filter criteria. Enter or modify the NDC information manually. Add a New NDC for a Charge

To add a NDC Id for a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following using a SIM code that requires NDC information. Enter a new charge, and then select Save or Next. Select an existing charge, and then select the NDC Charges icon on the Charge Posting toolbar. The NDC Data for this Charge window opens. Select National Drug Code, and then enter the NDC Id in the 11-digit 12345-6789-01 format. Note: This field is required. Digits 1-5 indicate label, digits 6-9 indicate product, and digits 10-11 indicate package. In the Eff Date and Exp Date fields, enter the effective and expiration dates for the new NCD Id. These fields are required. When you enter a new NCD Id, the Service Date on the charge must fall within the Effective Date and Expiration Date and saved on the charge.
