Enabling Create Medication Entry

If you have prescribing rights, you can create a medication entry for refill requests that have the type unmatched prescription and commit them to the patient chart. Drug utilization review occurs when you select Commit in the Refill Request Patient Matching window. If you select Create Medication Entry in the Refill Request Patient Matching window, the medication adds as is to memory. The prescription status is updated to Successfully Matched and Matched. The Medications modules and eRx operations rights in System Administrator determine your ability to create, commit, approve, and deny medication entries. Match Medication Information on eRx Refill Requests

You can look up and match a medication from the Refill Request Patient Matching window. You can add the medication to a patient's chart if it is not prescribed there. Double-click an Unmatched Refill Reqs task, or select Unmatched Refill Reqs, and then select Open. Workflow The Refill Request Patient Matching window opens. Refill Request Patient Matching Select the medication to match. The data included with the refill request opens. Refill Request Patient Matching Select Lookup. The Drug Lookup window opens. Drug Lookup Select a medication, and then select OK. Refill Request Patient Matching Select Match. If the medication is not prescribed in the patient's chart, the confirmation message Unmatched Prescription appears to create a medication entry. To add the medication to the patient's chart, select Yes. View Patient Medications

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the View access right enabled in MODULES > Medical Records > Medications in System Administrator. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's active medications and also open the Medications module to add, update, or reconcile the patient's medications. A total count of the patient's active medications appears on the Medications button on the Quick Buttons panel. Medications Module

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Medications module enables you to prescribe, print, fax, and e-prescribe (requires enrollment) patient medications. The Medications module also enables you to educate patients on medications prescribed to them, and check whether the prescribed medication has adverse interactions with other prescribed medications, existing allergies, or known diagnoses.
