Match Medication Information on eRx Refill Requests

You can look up and match a medication from the Refill Request Patient Matching window. You can add the medication to a patient's chart if it is not prescribed there.
  1. Double-click an Unmatched Refill Reqs task, or select Unmatched Refill Reqs, and then select Open.

  2. Select the medication to match.

  3. Select Lookup.

  4. Select a medication, and then select OK.

  5. Select Match.
    If the medication is not prescribed in the patient's chart, the confirmation message Unmatched Prescription appears to create a medication entry.
  6. To add the medication to the patient's chart, select Yes. If you do not want to create a medication entry, select No.
    • If the medication is present in the patient's chart, or if you add the medication to the patient's chart, the status changes to Matched.
    • If the medication is not present in the chart, and you choose not to add the medication to the patient's chart, the status changes to MatchedNoRx.
  7. Select Commit to map the medication information from the refill request to the data available in the NextGen database.
    If you are required to view the patient’s PDMP report before prescribing a controlled substance, the report automatically generates. Review the report, and then select Continue.

    A match made between Surescript's pharmacies information included with a refill request and the data stored in the NextGen database applies only to the singular instance of the particular refill request.

    A new task with the refill request is entered into your task list.
  8. To approve the request, select Approve Request or Approve Other.
