Enable the Case View in NextGen® Enterprise EHR
To view cases associated with your patients, you must enable Case View in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. When Case View is enabled, you can view cases for all patients. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. To view the cases associated with the selected patient, select the settings icon, and select the View Case Management check box on the user-level display setting window. Note: When you select a patient who does not have any cases associated with their history, you receive a message that there are no cases to load. The Encounter History tab displays the Case Management information. On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter that has case, and select the context menu icon and then select Properties. Note: Some Cases can be marked as Private. If you have selected a case that is marked private, then you must have proper user rights and permissions to access that case information. Managing Patient Cases in NextGen® Enterprise EHR
The Case Management functionality enables users of both NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM applications to group patient encounters based upon common data into cases. Cases may include workers' compensation, occupational health (non-injury), ambulatory care, group health PT as well as other encounter details. This enables users to submit only the medical-record data of each patient that is required to meet insurance and legal obligations. Set Up Case Management Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise EHR
You are able to set up Case View as your default setting. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and load a patient. On the Encounter History tab, select the settings icon. The My Patient History Settings window opens, showing the default encounter information and a sample display. If your practice is using Case Management, under the My Patient History Settings | Encounter History section, select the View Case Management check box to view the cases associated with the selected patient. To apply the new settings, select Apply. View Case is set to be your default preference. To restore the practice preference settings, select Reset to Practice Settings. Modify a Case in NextGen® Enterprise EHR
You can modify a case in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at any time. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select a patient from the Patient Lookup window. On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter that has case, and select the Case Options icon and then select Properties. Note: Some Cases can be marked as Private. If you have selected a case that is marked private, then you must have proper user rights and permissions to access that case information. The Case Management window opens. Displaying the Encounter History for Cases in NextGen® Enterprise EHR
Once you enable the Case View, the Encounter History tab displays all of the available cases related to the selected patient. All of the Encounters containing all of the pertinent information attached to a particular Case are displayed under the Case. If there are any Encounters in the patient's history that are not attached to a Case, such Encounters are displayed separately at the bottom of the Encounter History tab. All of the usual Encounter-related functionality available in the Encounter History tab is retained. If a Case is selected, however, only the Template icon is enabled, allowing you to select and work with Case Templates. Parent topic: Managing Patient Cases

Managing Cases for Patient Encounter Data
The case functionality in NextGen® Enterprise PM enables you to view and group common patient encounter data in to a case. You can use the Case Management tab under Patient Information to manage cases for a patient. The Case Managementtab is available only when the Enable Case Management option is selected in the Case Management tab of the Practice Preferences window in File Maintenance. You can enable enterprise case management to allow patient cases to be available to all the practices in an enterprise.
