Patient Document Generation

You can generate patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the workstation you are logged on to or offline on a remote workstation. Before generating a particular document, make sure that you have selected a patient. Also you can check that all the relevant data is entered into the patient medical record. You can select options to save or print a patient document or send it to a patient account on NextGen® PxP Portal website when it is generated. You can create documents in two other ways: A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a document. Use NextGen® Enterprise EHR Quick View feature to generate a document in real time as you work on a patient encounter. You can then save and attach the document to the patient chart. NextGen® PxP Portal Document Export

You can export a patient document from the patient chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR to the patient NextGen® PxP Portal account. You can export the patient document from the Encounter History or the Categories tab. Note: NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to export documents to the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal account in a number of other ways: From the File menu, you can select Export Patient Documents, or can select Patient Portal > Documents > Send EHR Document. You can create a custom rule in the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ). You can set up a Launch Document template trigger in Template Editor. Print Patient Documents

You can print one or more documents that you have generated. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, generate a new patient document, or open an existing patient document. If desired, preview the patient document before you print it. From the Menu bar, select File > Print, or select the Print icon on the Document bar in the viewer. If you have not previously saved your document, the Save Document window opens. Select OK. The Print window opens. Select the desired printer. To print a group of patient documents, use the Custom Print\Fax function in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select OK to print your document. Document Generation Options

Destination Description Immediate Generates the document immediately and opens it in the designated viewer. You can do one of the following: To save the document to the patient' chart, you can select the Save check box. To print the document on the default windows printer for your workstation, you can select the Print check box to print the document on the default windows printer for your workstation. The document is automatically saved to the patient chart. You can also print the document after it is generated. Offline Generates the document offline and saves it to the patient's chart using the TX Text Document Queue utility. When you select the Offline option, the Generate Server and Printer fields are displayed. Note: You can select a Document Queue processing option to process only documents sent to the machine running the current instance of the utility. Set up Default Offline Generator Preferences

If you are using the TX Text Control, you can set up your offline generating preferences in the Generating section of the Documents tab. Note: The preferences in the Generating section apply only to documents that are generated offline from a Launch Document template trigger using the Document Queue utility for the TX Text Control. The preference settings are specific to each user machine. If no default preferences are set, documents are sent to the first available running instance of Document Queue and the default Windows printer. If you generate documents offline using the Documents icon on the Top Toolbar, you can select the generator and printer on the Generate a Document window. Patient Documents

Patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR can be a medical or lab report, a referral form, a professional letter, or any other custom-designed form. You can generate new patient documents from previously created user-defined format documents in the Document Builder. When a patient document is generated, macros in format documents insert data from selected template fields. A patient document can be created locally or remotely on a remote workstation. The patient documents are attached to the applicable encounter in the patient's chart. The patient's chart may also contain documents created outside Document Builder. Third-party documents are imported through the NextGen® Interface Engine Document Import Agent. NextGen® Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Continuity-of-Care (CCD) documents are attached to the NextGen® HIE Documents Category of the Categories tab.
