Setting Up and Maintaining Your Practice's Orders Workflow Foundation

To schedule, process, track, and complete your order more efficiently, you need to set up the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to meet your specific practice needs. Once you set up your NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, you can then update and maintain these settings as your business needs change and the Orders process evolves over time. Before performing Orders tasks, such as creating and sending Lab and Radiology orders, you need to set up the appropriate system rights, preferences, and tasks for the Orders module. The setup enables you to establish the workflow foundation for your practice or enterprise and enables providers and the clinical staff to access and use the appropriate functionality. The Orders module setup functions and options provide flexibility and enable you to establish a strong foundation for your Orders life cycle. Setting up Rights and Preferences for the Immunizations Module

The System Administrator should work closely with the core team of the practice to ensure that appropriate rights, preferences, SAP® Crystal Reports®, other reports, and other tasks are set up for the user groups. The administrator needs to update the Setup when the business needs change for the practice. Some functions and preferences are same for the Immunizations module and the Orders module. Therefore, if you are using the Orders module, ensure that you set up the preferences for the Orders module before you set up the Immunizations module. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Administering Immunizations

Each patient is unique and the Immunizations module provides flexibility and efficient functionality to help you administer each immunization according to patient needs. After you determine which immunization the patient needs, the next step is to administer the specific Immunization order. Each order requires certain information about the vaccine and other pertinent information such as billing codes, registry, and special patient needs, for example Medicare patients. During the administration process, you can review the VIS history, print the VIS document, track the Immunizations life cycle for each order, and administer a vaccine not in the Vaccine Inventory. After you have administered the immunization, for your records, you can print the Immunization Summary report to view a patient’s immunizations. Accessing and Reconciling a Patient's Immunizations Data

To help your practice maintain accurate health information, keep immunization schedules current, perform catch up when necessary, and reconcile patients’ imported Immunizations data from registry with their current Immunizations data from the patient chart. By selecting Reconcile on the Immunizations tab, you can open the Clinical Reconciliation module from the Orders module. On the Clinical Reconciliation window, the imported Immunization data from registry and current Immunization data from patient chart display. You can then match registry data to existing NextGen® Enterprise EHR data. Once the match process is complete, you can view the reconciled immunization data on the Orders Summary tab and on the Immunizations Chart/Recommendation view. Set up the Immunizations Module

Set up the Immunizations System Rights and Permissions for the appropriate User Groups. Set up the Immunizations Universal Preferences, as needed. Note: While each practice's setup may vary, depending on the specialty, ensure that you refer the Immunizations Pre-Setup Practice Considerations section after you complete the System Administration setup to ensure that you are implementing the Immunizations preferences and tasks as per the recommended best practices. Set up the Vaccine Billing codes. Select the NDC Library and add the appropriate Medical codes in the NDC Library. Set up the Vaccine Inventory. Set up Immunizations Practice Preferences. Set up the VIS documents. Set up Vaccine Custom Names. Configure other Immunization-related tasks, as required. Set up the Immunizations Summary report that is appropriate for your practice.
