Patient Synchronization

Patient synchronization controls if a patient currently open or active in NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen Optical Management appears in NextGen® Enterprise EHR when you access it. For example, if the chart for patient John Smith is currently open in NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen Optical Management, when you access NextGen® Enterprise EHR, the chart for John Smith automatically opens. When patient synchronization is enabled in user preferences, it works as follows: In NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen Optical Management, open a patient's chart. From the Main toolbar, select the EHR button. NextGen® Enterprise EHR opens and the chart for the same patient automatically opens. Enable or Disable Patient Synchronization Patient synchronization in NextGen® Enterprise EHR is enabled or disabled from the Suspend patient synchronization setting in your user preferences. Manage Patient Synchronization

You can configure patient synchronization in NextGen® Enterprise PM from the Suspend PM/EHR application sync setting in your user preferences. From the Admin menu, select Preferences > User > General. The User Preferences window opens. Select the General tab. In the Suspend PM/EHR application sync check box, do one of the following: Clear the check box to enable patient synchronization. Select the check box to disable patient synchronization. Turn Patient Synchronization On or Off

With patient synchronization turned on, an active patient in NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen® Optical Management appears in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. For example, if a patient's chart is open in NextGen® Enterprise PM or NextGen® Optical Management, it automatically opens in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, Select Tools > Preferences, and then select the General tab. In Synchronization Settings, select or clear the Suspend patient synchronization checkbox. Select OK. By default all NextGen® applications are synchronized to show the same selected patient when you switch from one application to another. For example, if you select Jane Doe in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and switch to NextGen® Enterprise PM, Jane Doe is automatically selected. Do the following in the Synchronization Settings section: To turn off synchronization, select the Suspend Patient Synchronization check box. To display a window prompting you to automatically create an encounter for the selected patient when you switch from another NextGen application to NextGen® Enterprise EHR, select the Prompt for encounter auto creation check box. Turn Patient Synchronization On or Off

Patient synchronization is a feature that controls whether or not the patient you currently have open, or active, in another application is automatically displayed when you access NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Admin > Preferences > User > General. In the User Preferences window, select the General tab. In the Activated upon Logon window, select or clear the Suspend PM/EHR application sync checkbox. Select OK.
