Document Generation Options

Destination	Description
Immediate	Generates the document immediately and opens it in the designated viewer. You can do one of the following: To save the document to the patient' chart, you can select the Save check box. To print the document on the default windows printer for your workstation, you can select the Print check box to print the document on the default windows printer for your workstation. The document is automatically saved to the patient chart. You can also print the document after it is generated.
Offline	Generates the document offline and saves it to the patient's chart using the TX Text Document Queue utility. When you select the Offline option, the Generate Server and Printer fields are displayed. Note: You can select a Document Queue processing option to process only documents sent to the machine running the current instance of the utility. If you have selected this option, select that machine from the list. To populate the list of available machines, you must first turn on the Document Queue utility. From the Generate Server list, you can select one of the following: First Available (default), which makes the document available to any active instance of Document Queue running on any machine not set to this machine only. Specific machine From the Printer list, select one of the printers available for the selected Generate Server: If First Available is selected, you can do one of the following: You can leave the Printer setting blank to use the default printer for the server running the instance of Document Queue. You can select <Default windows printer>. If a specific server is selected, you can do one of the following: You can leave the Printer setting blank to use the default printer for the server. You can select <Default windows printer>. You can select a specific printer. Note: Contact your implementation specialist or NextGen Healthcare Client Support if you need help setting up your server or printer. Patient Portal	Opens the document in the designated viewer, saves it to the patient chart, and sends it to the NextGen® PxP Portal website. The document remains open. You can select the Print check box to print the document on the default windows printer for your workstation. You can also print the document after it is generated. At run time, the Patient Portal Document Export window opens to add comments or a standard response. When the document is sent, a confirmation message window opens. Note: The patient must be enrolled in NextGen® PxP Portal to use this option.

Default Generator and Printer Preferences

You can set the default generator and a default printer for the documents generated from a template trigger and generated offline using the Document Queue utility. The preferences in the Generating section apply only to the documents that are generated offline from a Launch Document template trigger using the Document Queue utility for the TX Text Control. The preference settings are specific to each user machine. If no default preferences are set, documents are sent to the first available running instance of Document Queue and the default Windows printer. If you generate documents offline using the Documents module, you can select the generator and printer on the Generate Document window. In the Generating section, from the Default Generator list, select the default machine for running the Document Queue utility. Note: To the Default Generator list, you must first turn on the Document Queue utility. Select the printer you want from the Default Printer list, that displays the printers

Set up Default Offline Generator Preferences

If you are using the TX Text Control, you can set up your offline generating preferences in the Generating section of the Documents tab. Note: The preferences in the Generating section apply only to documents that are generated offline from a Launch Document template trigger using the Document Queue utility for the TX Text Control. Print the Patient Offline Documents

You can print patient documents in bulk for all the patients selected in the patient grid. Note: In System Administrator, if Access Rights for Documents is set to No, then you cannot access Document on the NextGen Care® Population Management Hub toolbar. From the My Lists tab, run a list. From the Appointment Book tab, filter the patients. The patient list appears in the patient grid. In the patient grid, select the check box next to the patient's name. From Document, select Generate Offline. The Generate Document Offline window opens. From Document Format, select the format in which you want print the documents. Select the Print Document check box. Select OK.

Patient Document Generation

You can generate patient documents in NextGen® Enterprise EHR on the workstation you are logged on to or offline on a remote workstation. Before generating a particular document, make sure that you have selected a patient. Also you can check that all the relevant data is entered into the patient medical record. You can select options to save or print a patient document or send it to a patient account on NextGen® PxP Portal website when it is generated. You can create documents in two other ways: A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a document. Use NextGen® Enterprise EHR Quick View feature to generate a document in real time as you work on a patient encounter. You can then save and attach the document to the patient chart. Launching Document Trigger Run Time

A template may be configured with a Launch Document trigger that you can execute to generate a preselected document, open it in your document viewer and save it to the patient's chart. Depending on the trigger setup, the document may be: Generated offline. If the Select Generator/Printer window opens, you can select the server and printer from the Generator and Printer lists, and select OK. Sent to the NextGen® PxP Portal website if the patient is enrolled in it. On the resulting Patient Portal Document Export window, you can add comments or a standard response, and select Send. Set up Print Report Trigger

The Print Report action can be triggered to automatically generate and print a specific Crystal Report from a template. You can select options to: Preview the report before printing it. Print the report on a default printer. Print the report from a non-production database using the NextGen® Report Server. Print and save the report to the patient's chart in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Generate and save the report to the patient's chart without printing it. Note: The report name cannot exceed 128 characters, including spaces. Follow the applicable steps in General Trigger Setup. Select the Print Report action. The Print Report window opens. Select the report you want to print from the reports listed in the window.
