NextGen® Enterprise EHR Help

Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. Updating Lab and Radiology Orders

You can open an existing unlocked lab or radiology order and add or change details for it. You can also add comments for an updated order, if required. If the encounter associated with an order has been locked, you can only view the order. The Save, Save & Send, Save & Fax, Save & Print, or Save & Task actions are unavailable. When you update an unfinished order, you must complete all required fields that have been set up as Mandatory Data Points in File Maintenance Practice Preferences. These required fields appear in red text. If you do not fill in a required field, when you try to save your selections or entries, a message appears, prompting you to complete the field. Setting Up and Maintaining Your Practice's Orders Workflow Foundation

To schedule, process, track, and complete your order more efficiently, you need to set up the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to meet your specific practice needs. Once you set up your NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, you can then update and maintain these settings as your business needs change and the Orders process evolves over time. Before performing Orders tasks, such as creating and sending Lab and Radiology orders, you need to set up the appropriate system rights, preferences, and tasks for the Orders module. The setup enables you to establish the workflow foundation for your practice or enterprise and enables providers and the clinical staff to access and use the appropriate functionality. The Orders module setup functions and options provide flexibility and enable you to establish a strong foundation for your Orders life cycle. SAP® Crystal Reports® for Orders

SAP® Crystal Reports® packaged in NextGen® Enterprise EHR include reports specific to test orders. You can generate, view, and print both standard and custom practice SAP Crystal Reports. For test orders, you can use the standard set of orders-based SAP Crystal Reports to create reports for lab and radiology orders for your practice. You can create a report for the current encounter for the current patient. You can also map multiple tests to the same AOE question. Before the standard SAP Crystal Reports for test orders can be used to generate or print reports, set up is required in System Administrator. The reports must also be loaded in your database before you can access and set up those reports. Radiology Order Quick Reference

The following table provides a quick reference for common radiology order and result tasks and where to find more information. How do I? Do This: Reference Define a test compendium You can load tests into NextGen® Enterprise EHR using the Orders Management Console. Managing Lab Orders and Immunizations

You can create and track lab, radiology, and immunization orders from the Orders Summary tab. You can also view the test results in the Orders module. You can manage orders for patients across your practice using the Orders Management order control in a custom practice template. In the Immunizations module, you can access the immunization schedules to view the current vaccine schedule. The Immunizations module also enables you to view all immunizations for a patient and print the immunizations summary report. You can also use the Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) workflow from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to search and select order items for a patient encounter.
