Add Prescribed Medication Custom Deletion Reasons

The Prescribed meds custom deletion reasons master list enables you to create custom reasons (up to 25 characters each) that explain why a prescribed medication is being deleted. By default, the list contains the Entered in error reason. You cannot modify or hide this system default reason. In File Maintenance, select Master Lists > Prescribed meds custom deletion reasons. For information about managing master lists, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest File Maintenance Master Lists Guide for NextGen® Enterprise. Setting Up Medication Deletion Reasons

To allow users to apply a reason when they delete previously prescribed medications, you must activate the Prompt for Prescribed Medication Deletion Reason and add custom reasons that users can select. The system includes a history of the deleted medication for traceability and may send a CancelRx request to the pharmacy to ensure the prescription is not dispensed to the patient. Delete a Medication

You can delete any medication that was prescribed to a patient. Depending on your system settings, you may be required to select a reason that explains why you are deleting a previously prescribed medication. When applicable, the system sends a CancelRx notification to the pharmacy to ensure the prescription is not unintentionally dispensed to the patient. In the medications list, highlight the medication that you want to delete. Select Delete. A message informs you that a CancelRx message may be sent to the pharmacy and a deletion reason may be required. Select Yes to confirm deleting the selected medication. If deletion reasons are required for previously prescribed medications, the Deletion Reason Selection window opens. Deletion Reason Selection Select a reason for the deletion, and then select OK. Acknowledge Medication Deletions

If you selected a medication or an administered medication for deletion, then when you select Confirm, the Deleting dispensed medication window appears and lists the medication. This message is informational only, as it is not possible to stop the deletion once you have clicked Confirm. Deleting Dispensed Medication Message Select OK. If you view the medication later in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Medication module, the entry for that medication shows a Status value of "Deleted" and a Deletion Reason of "External Deletion." Delete Medication Allergy

Before you begin Ensure the encounter that you select to open Medication Allergies module is unlocked. If you need to delete a medication allergy assigned to a locked encounter, you must create either a custom or a new encounter and add a new allergy with the modifications to an existing allergy. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Medication Allergies module for the selected patient. Select the allergy you want to delete from the module grid and select Delete. The Delete Record window opens displaying the confirmation message. Do one of the following: You can select Delete and mark item "Inactive" if you want to make the allergy inactive. You can select Delete and mark item "Entered in error" for an allergy that is incorrectly added by provider. Select Yes to delete the allergy. Select No or close the window to cancel the deletion. Medication Management

The Medical Management call type concerns communications that involve the status of a patient's current and inactive medications. Select the New Call button and select Medical Management from the Call Type list. The Panels and Panel Items opens. Select the Call Information and Contact Information panel items from the panels. Select Pharmacy. The Pharmacy option appears. If a patient has pharmacy information stored in NextGen® Enterprise, the information displays automatically. Select a Preferred Pharmacy for the patient or select Search. The Pharmacy Search window opens.
