Add Prescribed Medication Custom Deletion Reasons

The Prescribed meds custom deletion reasons master list enables you to create custom reasons (up to 25 characters each) that explain why a prescribed medication is being deleted. By default, the list contains the Entered in error reason. You cannot modify or hide this system default reason. In File Maintenance, select Master Lists > Prescribed meds custom deletion reasons. To allow users to apply a reason when they delete previously prescribed medications, you must activate the Prompt for Prescribed Medication Deletion Reason and add custom reasons that users can select. The system includes a history of the deleted medication for traceability and may send a CancelRx request to the pharmacy to ensure the prescription is not dispensed to the patient. Medication Reasons

NextGen® Enterprise EHR uses the Medication Reasons master file as a repository for the reasons that a medication is being prescribed in the Medications Module. This reason becomes part of the Sig for the prescribed medication. File Maintenance includes a default list of reasons, but you can add custom reasons. To add a medication reason: From the Master Files > System, select Medication Reasons. The Medications Reasons List window opens. From the list, do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu , and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu , and then select Open. In the Add/Modify Medication Reasons Information window, enter the name of the reason in the Medication Reason Description field and, if necessary, enter a Note. Activate the Prompt for Prescribed Medication Deletion Reason

You can activate a prompt so that when a user deletes a prescribed medication in the Medications module, the prompt appears and user can select a deletion reason. In the System Administrator application, open the Universal Preferences > Medications > Prompt for prescribed meds deletion reason. Set the preference to True. Note: When the preference is set to False, no prompt appears in the Medication module. Select OK. For a complete list of the Universal Preferences for medications, see Medication Preferences.
