You can configure NextGen® Background Business Processor to send email notifications when package processing succeeds, fails, or completes. You can also set NextGen® Background Business Processor to email exported files and reports as attachments to specified recipients. Use of the email functionality within NextGen® Background Business Processor is optional.
- From the File menu, select E-mail Settings to open the BBP E-mail Settings window.
- In the Notification 'From' address field, enter the email address from which NextGen® Background Business Processor sends emails. This is a required but “dummy” address that indicates the sender of the email. For example of a typical From address is: mailto:BBP@yourcompany.com.
- In the Default Notification 'To' address(es) field, enter the email address of the default recipient or recipients who receive the NextGen® Background Business Processor email notifications.
Note: The recipients you enter in this field are the default recipients. You can change the notification recipient for each package in the Package Properties window.
- Enter the SMTP server in the SMTP server name field.
The SMTP server is your company’s email server. You can coordinate this with your IT staff.
- Select the SMTP authentication type you want to use. You can select either:
- Anonymous authentication
Note: As your outgoing emails are encrypted at the channel level, this option is turned off to provide a more secure connection.
- Basic authentication
Note: If you select Basic authentication, you must enter an user name and password that authorizes the authentication. You can work with your IT staff to determine which authentication type to be used for your SMTP email server.
- Select the Test E-mail button to test the settings you entered. If successful, the default recipient receives a test email message.
- To set up NextGen® Background Business Processor email notifications, access the Package Properties window for each package you want NextGen® Background Business Processor to send notifications about.
- Select one of the following action on Upon completion list when the package processing is completed.
- Do not notify: No notification email sent to any recipients on package success or failure
- Notify on completion: Notification email sent to recipients on completion, regardless of whether package processing succeeds or fails
- Notify on failed or Completed with failures: Notification email sent to recipients when package processing has either failed or completed with failure of one or more jobs
- Notify on success: Notification email sent to recipients only when package processing succeed
- On Notification e-mail, enter the email address for the recipients of the email notification that is generated when the condition indicated in the Upon completion field is met.
Note: If you enter more than one recipient, use a comma to separate the email addresses.
