Configure Reason for Visits

Use the Reason for Visit section in the Framework Content system template to configure the Reason for Visit items that appear in the Reason for Visit panel on the Intake and SOAP templates that are specific to your practice and specialty. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. In the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window appears. On the System tab, under Show, select All. Click Framework Content to open the Framework Content system template. Associate the HPI template to a specialty Click the Specialty field and select an item from the list. This associates the HPI template to that specialty. If applicable, click the Practice and/or Provider fields to select an item from the respective list to map the HPI template to a particular practice or provider. Framework Content System Template

The Framework Content system template is used to configure the reason for visit types that are specific to your practice and add the customized reasons to the top 14 links that appear in the left pane of the Reason for Visit panel. Reason for Visit Note: The top 14 reasons for visit are listed on the left. All of the reasons documented for the open encounter are listed on the right. Only Reason for Visit values that are configured to a specific specialty can be added to the top 14 reasons for visit. Add Top Reasons for Visit

You can configure the complaints that appear in the Reason for Visit panel by adding them to the top list on the Framework Content system template. Before including a reason for visit in the top list, ensure that it exists in the all list. Note: You can include up to 14 reasons for visit in the top list. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open the Framework Content system template. Click the Reason for Visit panel. Set the Filter to top. The top reasons for visit appear in the grid. To select a reason for visit, click the field above the Reason for Visit column of the grid, and click OK. The list includes the reasons for visit from the all list, specific to the selected specialty. Click Add. The reason appears in the Reason for Visit grid and in the Reason for Visit panel on the Framework Content system template. Set Up HPIs to Appear in the Reason for Visit

You can set up the History of Present Illness (HPI) to appear in the reason for visit. A practice can configure the Reason for Visit panel using the Framework Content system template. For more information on the reason for visit configuration, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Framework Content System Template forNextGen®Adaptive Content Engine. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. In the Show section, select All. To open the Framework Content template, double-click Framework Content. Select Specialty and select a specialty from the list. Expand the Reason for Visit panel. In Filter, select the all option. Select the reason for visit linked to the appropriate History of Present Illness (HPI), which you want to add to the all list in the Reason for Visit list. Note: The reasons for visit are linked to an HPI template on the Manage Custom Links practice template. Select OK.

Reasons for Visit

The Reason for Visit appears on the left pane of the Intake-Cardiology template. You can customize the list by specialty or by provider. Reason for Visit panel on Intake - Cardiology template You can configure the Reason for Visit panel on the Intake – Cardiology template without logging on to Template Editor. You can configure or change the reasons for visit and the associated HPI templates using the Framework Content system template. Document Reasons for Visit You can document the reasons for the visit of a patient in the Reason for Visit panel. Copy Historical Free Form HPI to Current Encounter You can copy historical Free Form HPI data within the last three years to the current encounter in the Reason for Visit panel of the Intake – Cardiology template. Add a Reason for Visit

If you are a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine user, you can select reasons for visit from the picklist in the GET component. The data in the picklist is based on master_im_.specialty and master_im_.txt_age_yrs fields in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine master_im. If you are creating a custom template, you can add reasons for visit by creating or mapping data to the master_im_.chiefcomplaint fields, as described in Managing Reasons for Visit. In the REASON FOR VISIT pane, select the Extra menu icon, and select Manage Reasons for Visit. The Reasons for Visit window opens. From the list at the bottom of the window, select the reason. Note: This list is populated by the stored procedure for the ngkbm_udg_rfv_picklist. This picklist is not available outside NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. Select Add. The reason is added to the window. Repeat step 2 for each reason you want to add. The Reasons for Visit window lists each reason in the order that it was added. Select Close. The REASON FOR V
