Set Up Required Referral and Follow-up Plan Fields

A practice-level configuration is available to select which fields are required for the Referral and Follow-up plan types. In My Custom Plan Setup, General Configuration panel, click the Set My Custom Plan Required Fields link to launch a template with options for the required fields. My Custom Plan Select the required field name check boxes for Referrals, Follow-up, and Disposition. Click Save & Close and then click Save in the NextGen® Enterprise top toolbar. With the option turned on, an alert based on your practice's selections appears in a concatenated form on the My Plan or My Custom Plan template in run time. Create a Practice-Specific List of Vendors

The following workflows result from the configuration of a practice preference for a performing entity: When no performing entity is selected as the default, the full list of vendors appears in the picklist on My Custom Plan, including To Be Determined, which defaults automatically in the Preferred Performing Entity field. You can manually change the selection on the My Custom Plan template. When more than one vendor is in the selected performing entity list for labs or diagnostics, the picklist on My Custom Plan only lists the selected performing entities. The Vendorfield defaults to the preferred vendor. A list of vendors can be configured in the Practices Master File to use when processing orders from the My Custom Plan template. Log into the File Maintenance application. Under Master Files > System, click EHR. Under EHR Master Files - System, click Practices. The Practices List window opens. Search for Providers on a Plan Type

The functionality to search for and select a provider name is available on the Referrals, Follow-up, Lab Orders, Diagnostics, Office Medications, and Instructions plan types on the My Custom Plan template. On the My Custom Plan template, My Plan panel, highlight a diagnosis. My Plan Under Order Options, select Referrals and next to View, select Providers. Note: The Referrals plan type includes the options to Show All or Show Internal Only. These lists are based on the rendering provider designation selected in File Maintenance. Show Internal Only is comprised of the provider records that include the rendering designation. To search for a provider in the Follow-up plan type, select Follow-up. A Search field displays above the grid: The list only includes the provider names that contain the string of values entered into the Search field in either the last name or first name when the magnifying glass button is selected. View Referrals by Provider or Location

When Referrals is selected from the Order Options section, the grid View defaults to Providers. Open the My Custom Plan template. On the My Plan panel, select a diagnosis from the grid. In the Order Options section, select Referrals. In the Provider column, Show Internal may be the top option; leave the option to only see internal provider names. Note: The practice can set the default display to Allon the My Custom Plan Setup practice template, General Configuration panel by selecting the Set Default Display for Plan Type in My Custom Plan link. To view the names of every provider, select Show All, select a physician's name, and then set the Reason for Referral and Timeframe as appropriate. You can save a referral as part of an order set on the My Custom Plan template. The filter on the Referrals plan type to Showincludes the options for All or Order Set. Update the Default Specialty for Rendering Providers

You can modify the default specialty for a rendering provider. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Select Template window Select the System tab. Under Show, select All. A list of templates appear. Double-click Framework Content. The Framework Content template opens. In the Default Visit Specialty template, do the following: To view the default visit specialties mapped to the rendering provider, select the filter by provider field. To view the default visit specialties mapped to all the rendering providers at the practice level, use the filter by practice field. You can clear the filters by selecting the top blank row on the resulting list. Select the row. The practice, location, and default visit specialty details appear.
